Default knackered big end?

I had a tappin on my s2rst for a while now.Although I suspected it was a big end I was told it was a hydraulic lifter. On mon I was followin a mate in his 3i down the motorway and instead of doin 70 like he promised,he went hell for leather. After about 30 miles one of the big ends decided it had had enough.I had to drive the car home (100 miles) and by the time I got home it wouldnt run.I know I shouldnt have driven it but had no choice. What I want to know is what other damage might I have done?I have a reground crank and new shells under the stairs but I have been told that I have probably knackered the bores. Can anyone enlighten me.Cheers everyone.

Bits of metal from the bearing might of got into the oil pump and ended up been pumped around the engine ??

you are very lucky your conrod didnt go crushing through your block well for bores they should be ok just give them a good homing and replacecrank and get new big ends and mains and thrust washers and everything should be ok

Thanks guys. The problem is.....If I have knackered the con rods, would they be knackered as in not oval?If so how the hell do you tell without special tools to measure them? Also after what johnny wrote I am thinkin if bits of big end have been pumped around the engine they would have ended up in the turbo oil feed as well wouldnt they?Bugger.
