Default ECT (Blue) Sensor...Can Anyone who knows about these help???

In case you didn't know, ive had a Misfire for some time and have not been able to find the fault.

Somebody has suggested i check the ECT sensor, and so i have and this is what ive found.

Its still connected to the engine so i checked it at the ECU connector as described in the manual.

Now...The temp today was fairly normal. Not too hot not too cold.
My ACT gauge showed 15deg.
So i think it would be fair to expect the water to be around the same as it hasn't been run for a few days.

This being the case, the resistance should be about 4875ohms for 15deg.
However, im getting 1846ohms, which according to my calculations should be a temp of 37deg

This sensor is virtually Brand New, i still have the old one so tried that too (although it was not fitted). This gave me a reading of 2668ohms which should be 26deg.

Anybody have any idea what the hell is going on????

Are these both Duff?
Is there anything else i can do before confining them to the bin?

try it this way with ignition on or engine running. Coolant temp. sensor voltage On Pin 29 and Pin 11
3 to 1 volt Indicated value is for engine temperature 20 to 50c,
for engine temp. of 50 to 80c voltage should be 1 to 0.3 volt.
a faulty ect sensor will generally cause lots of black smoke and rich running when the engine is warm as they normally fail giving an engine cold signal to the ecu.as far as i,m aware there is a tie up between the charge temp sensor and the blue water temp sensor but only if one or the other fails. in this case the ecu uses the others temp to take the place of the failed sensor and it all depends on the sensor temps.
when is your misfire happening and under what conditions

If you look in the Technical section on here you should see it. It explains everything.

Thanks for the reply.
