Default poss fuel pump problem????

Hey there everyone,
I took my Cossie in to get it rolling roaded to see how much i was pushing before i decide to go to green injectors, chip etc...
I took it to Allen Jefferys down in Plymouth.
Well he got the car to 270bhp but for some reason all the power dropped off around 4.5 to 5 thou revs?
he said it could have been a fuel pump problem but i took it back to him and there seems to be no problem with the pump at all?

is there anyone out there that has had a similar problem like this and what was causing it if you have?

Cheers if anyone can help me out

I think i will have to try some other avenues.

Did Alan explain in any more detail other than it might be the pump? Did he say why the power dropped off? Was it the afr boost etc, he has a pretty good rolling road and should be able to monitor all this stuff and tell you what the problem is or at least give you a pointer other than it might be the fuel pump.

wardy and trev thanks for getting in touch. you certainly sound as if you know what you are talking about.
As for the volt test thing...... well i can honestly tell you i have no idea what you are on about there sorry???

alan is a good man and he knows his stuff, he put my car on the rolling road twice and put some pressure sensor thingy on the fuel pump but could not narrow the problem down??
I think i will take it back to him very soon and leave the car with him for some time then he might be able to find the problem.
thanks again for getting in touch

Wardy thank you for sending me the link, i have read this and makes sence..........
However, i happened to be working on the car this morning and thought i would get the old HKS plugs out and give them a damn good wire brushing!
Well i chucked them in and kept the new cheep ones just in case and lo n behold i took her out past the 4 thou, past the 4.5 thou and even past 5 thou without any problems at all ecept for one.......
Me n the little lady ran out of road but we managed a good 145 out of the beast.
i will keep in mind all that you have sent thank you
