Default koni question

i have a set of rear koni adjustables for my rs turbo, i fancy havin a go at converting em to coilovers like the mk1 and 2 escort boys do
i have access to a machine shop so making up the threaded sleeves, nuts, and tops wont be a problem
my question is can u remove the inserts from the konis easily and refit them or is it an impossible task, reason being i dont want to weld the sleeves on and them blow up with the excess heat

hope someone can help

Don't know if there are any inserts in RST Konis, but certainly not in the way as in mk1/mk2 Escorts where the strut and shock are two separate parts.

decided this is a cheap skate way of coi overs that maybe wont even work!!!
decided just to invest in a decent set of specific springs!! any idea what poundage is best for a stripped out s1??
