HiSpec brake kits and Softlines on an Estate
Hi out there,
I have an urgent question about some aftermarket brake kit.
As I 'm having problems at the track with disc warping (RS2K setup front)I now want to upgrade to an 4 pot brake kit.
However my Softlines and Coss alloys must fit over the brakekit.
I hear alot about HiSpec? Are they really good?
Me thinks that their 285 Billet 4 brake kit would be sufficient for me. Or would the cossies fit over a 300mm conversion?
Grtz

Ive heard mixed reports on Hi-Specs for a number of different reasons.
You might also want to consider Wilwood from Rally Design.

On the RS2k setup I used from standard, imitation, EBC TGD, DEROK (grooved & drilled) and last National Disc ( grooved ). All of them I used the EBC greenstuff pads.

Mixed report? Any more info on that? So far I've only heard good things about the kits.
However if I spend a lot of my hard earned euro's on an brake upgrade, it's deffo need be good, no compromises.
Wilwood was/is an alternative, but do the brakes have dust seals?
A while ago I could buy s set of Alcon 4 pots, but these were without dustseals, and the seller advised me not to buy them ( need more maintenance, not suited for daily driver ).

Another Question,
At Ford Fair I had a brief conversation with Martin Hadland from Reyland about the Brembo kit for an RST.
Would this also fit on my car, as the RST brakes are the same as the XR4i and RS2K brakes? Or are there minimal differences?

Ive heard various reports of Hi-Spec kits not fitting correctly and brackets that need adjusting etc.
In addition there customer service (aftersales) is meant to be shocking.
Wilwood Midilites do have dust seals, but the Superlites dont.
Hope this helps.

Maybe it is, but secondhand ST170 parts are hard to find in Holland.
A cos2/4wd setup also came to mind. However these aren't plug n play solutions. You have to drill out the hub to a bigger diameter and so on.
But I have some scorpio cos brakes lying around here. Just hadn.t the time to check these for fitment.

Hi there,
That is good news, I know the 285 mm setup shouldn't be a problem, the 300mm could be.
One step closer to a HiSpec then

Hi there,
Spending a lot of dosh and then bad fittng brackets
that is no good news, will check the Wilwood kits with dustseals then.
How about availibilty from discs and pads? Are these easy obtainable , ie can you get ABC green or red for the Wilwood kit?

Wilwood kits come with there own pad (Smartpad), but you can also fit Mintex and others.
I would speak to Rally Design as they will be able to talk you through your options.

Tend to go for a Wilwood now, but want to be sure it's a easy fitting job with no hassles.

Spacing out won't be an option, because I'm not a fan of spacers and the softlines sitting pretty good now. Putting them more to the outside only wil give problems with tyre clearance.
Damn, don't won't to loose the Softlines, but still in serious need for some more stopping power.
Would the ST170 setup also give probs with wheel clearance with the Softlines (and EsCos alloys)?
