s2 cutting out after pace cooler fitted

s2 cutting out after pace cooler fitted
matess2 rst keeps cutting out and won't start and idle unless u give it gass since fitting his pace intercooler this afternoon.
its 2nd hand, but it did have an ait leak kind of problem before aswell. he turned the idle up and every time he was slowing down for lights etc or stopping the cars revs would decrease and car would kinda shake as if its gonna stall and revs would go up.
Didn't sound very strong if that makes any sense in its idling and sometimes it would stall aswell.
now he fitted his pace it seems to of got worse it won't stay idliening at all, so we turned his idle valve up more, we also had to move the distriubutor about abit to get it to ilde at all.
But its very bad now cos when he accelerates off in 1st gear there seems like no power or movement from the car and then it eventually starts coming to the pedal and then the car moves of in 1st gear and will boost very well.
any ideas on the air leak issue or whatever as we've checked all the vacum pipes everywhere, tigthened everything.
one thing we realised when it managed to hold on with dear life to an idle of about 900rpm if u press the brake pedal the revs go down and up
does this mean anything with regards to the problem?

still does sound like an air leak to me !!
check dipstick pipe is seled with dipstick check all your breathers
and re check every boost pipe
if all is ok buy some engine start spray and spray around eack joint in turn wait 30 seconds after each try as it takes about that for it to get in if theres a leak the engine revs will pick up on there own!!
spray on intercooler as well as this could be faulty and wait 30 seconds again
each time u spray 1 spot wait and try another spot and wait until u might find the engine pick up on its own then the place where u sprayed is a air leak! u may have 1 or 2 places that are letting in air!
by the way i would put the ignition back afetr u sort it out as the timing out will make it run hot or even loss of power
