Default amp cutting out, any ideas

right. i have a vibe active sub with inbuilt amp total 1200w, witch has its own power earth and remote, ive aslo got a splx 400w amp running some vibe 600w speakers through a 1 farad power cap. this has its own live and earth but i have split the remote. my problem is when the hole lot is turned up, when a large bass note plays my amp cuts out (splx)and the red light comes on. the power cap is reading around 13 - 14 volts, my first thought is that i might need a bigger alternator, but surely the power cap would have sorted it if it was taking too many amps. anyone have any ideas
thanks in advance
dan

sounds like a load problem, ie the amp is seeing a low impedance and going into protect mode,

make sure your amp is not seeing under 3 ohms.

also you should be running at least 50% headroom with amps, so lets say you have 2x600w vibe black air drivers, there is a potential of 1200w. you should be running an amp that delivers at least 2000w to run correctly.

dont think if you run smaller amps into big speakers they wont blow your speakers, it is actually more likely to happen due to early square waves into your drivers, causeing coil destruction..

be carefull mate,, as you know vibe drivers arnt cheap lol

good luck, let me know if you need any help
