Default mk3 fiesta engine transplant

Basically i have a mk3 fiesta that is in need of a new engine. I was reading fast ford this month and have seen an rs2000 running at 301bhp with a 2.3 ford galaxy bottom end. My fiesta is an rs1800 so has the 1.8 zetec engine. My plan was intially to drop in a 2 litre zetec then run it on 45mm carbs.

I have a few questions.

Is the 2.3 ford galaxy engine a zetec engine? I ask this as the car is essentially a sister model to the vw sharon except the vw doesnt use a 2.3 in the range.

Will this engine drop into the fiesta without the mounts needing modifying? or will the old galaxy mounts fit?

Will this fit the ib5 box in the fiesta or will i need to change bits over just like when you do a 2 litre conversion i.e. changing sump and oil pick up? Will the 1.8 sump and that still fit?

Would it be easier to just bore out the 2 litre to a 2.1 or is it not worth the extra expense?

Any Tips or Advice is appreciated. Please make constructive comments.

mk5 rs2000 engine weather its the same size down below i dont know but thats what i want in mine when i can afford petrol lol

anyways i hope this helps u if your looking to do a 2.3 into a fiesta should be intresting as iv never seen it done before which is really why i wanna do it so it would help me aswell keep me informed

anything can be done if you have the money/time/knowhow!

i would have thought that the enigne mounts would be in diffrent places but dont know this for sure.
plus the 2.3 bottom end would be heavier that a 2ltr so you would have to look more in to power to weight ratios really, and look in to setting up the suspension to make it handle right.
like like i said anything can be done!

fitting the 2.0 zetec is gonna be a hell of alot easier as you have all the parts you need on your rs1800 engine to complete the swap. to fit the 2.3 youl need a donor rs2000 for engine, loom, mounts, gearbox, basically everything, then a 2.3 bottom end from a galaxy or scorpio. then modifying the 2.3 to fit (balance shaft/sump mods). and will end up with a powerful albeit very expensive time consuming job. let alone heavy. (cue understeer and need of big brakes. The zetec will be quick to fit, cheap, lighter and cheaper to tune. plus the 45s will go on a treat and no need for aftermarket management as you can use the standard setup to run ignition. I recently did this swap on an rs1800 in 2 days in and driving.

if you could get a complete donor rs2000 and do the 2.3 bottom end at a later date it would be easier. that much has been done a few times in a mk3 fez. ive even seen a couple of fwd cossie powered ones, but that is alot of work!!!
