Default hydrolic Lifters

finally putting my engine together and would like some advice on the lifters, whast the best way to prepare / fit them in order to make the dam things as quiet as possible...

ive heard a few people tell me to soak them in oil first then other saying dont do that...any advice would be great

The key is to make sure they are going in with a new cam, they are lubed with proepr cam lube, and then run in. I never bother saoking them in oil. They will fill up to there correct height within a few seconds on startup.

As rick says dont even bother to soak them, what do these people think oil pressure is for ??
They may be noisy for a minute or two but so what, on certain vw's if you preload them with oil they will jack up as it cannot escape fast enough when started and pistons and valves have a fight!!

yeah there fitted now, still just as rattley at the mo, they should quiet down hopefully then

I use WYNNS engine flush before every oil change and for noisy tappets I use WYNNS OIL CONDITIONER/STABILISER it works for me.
Got rid of 90% of my noise, my tappets have done 140,000 though.
