Rolling road set up is the bestw ay.

Very sensible turning it down, almost guaranteed to of saved yourself from an expensive re-build

You can only really get it set up and see what boost it will sufficiently fuel to.

Is it still running MFI?

Can't really tell anything about pistons short of removing the head

A compression test won't necessarily indicate low comp pistons, if say valves are leaking around the seats, rings are worn, etc......

Best to have it set up on a rolling road mate if the fuel has been set for 20psi then now you've turned it down it will be over fueling best to let a pro do it mate and not mess with the boost at all your self

It can do, you're best to stay off-boost until you get the fuelling and detonation checked out.. (go somewhere that specialises in turbo cars..)

"If" and "Should" can often be expensive words.

Well hes turbed the boost down himself so that shouldnt be a gamble

I know what you mean though running excessively rich can be as bad as lean.

Im glad i didn't use ASSUME in there aswell
