Default ESCORT GTI - WHICH AIR FILTER

Hi all,

I have a 98 Escort GTI, it currently has a pipercross induction kit but it looks rubbish and (i think) performs equally rubbish!!

Can anyone recommend a good induction kit, preferably with a nice hard induction pipe, (like AEM etc)

Thanks

David

personally id go back to airbox setup with a pipercross panel,

i had the same induction kit and as well as lookin toss in the middle of the bay, was far too in the bay to get any cool air,

if you really want a induction kit, id go for a cossie filter or summit with a length of samco reducer

or if ur made of money, the pipercorss viper is a good buy

OK Cheers that sounds good, any ideas where i can get a samco reducer for teh cossie filter, i like the idea of that and I can always buy a cold air feed to help it out.

It will be that or the panel / box arrangement again cos the Pipercross cone really is cack!

A mate of mine has suggested that tghe cossie filter would be too big and hence mess up air flow and then fuelling etc?

Ive never had any experience of a cossie filter but ive tryed a few different types of induction kits including the viper kit.

Ive gone back to the standard airbox with a k+n panel filter in it and used some slightly larger alloy ducting from the front bumper to airbox and its the best my car has ever run. Not noisy either

i use one on mine with a piece of modified samco, as i couldnt get one the right size so i had to cut it about, its utilises the bottom half of the airbox for cold air, jus rests on top. (well it was till i ripped the engine out )

Cheers guys, i think im going to take off the pipercross and go back to teh box setup, and get a trusty K&N Filter, i may cut a hole in the box and run some large ducting up to just infront of the air filter, thus allowing lots of cold air in but no hot!!

Thanks for your help chaps!

(my car will still be a bit loud, got a scorpion exhaust) - highly recomended make a great souns but not too anti - social!

Cheers, DAvid
