24v tt 4wd capri tips please?
right, i'm considering a new project, but i need a few pointers to help me along my way
the plan is to build a 24v twin turbo 4x4 capri (hopefully)
which gearbox setup is best for the car/engine?
which turbos, and will i need to get custom manifolds?
if i was to get hold of a sierra xr4x4i, could i use all the transmission and stuff from that?
does the capri shell need any modding for the 24v lump?
does it need wide arches for the 4x4 transmission?
i'd be running mappable management (gotech mfi pro), so ecu wont be a problem really
sorry about the questions, but im practically a newbie, and my ford parts compatibility knowledge isnt too great
any help would and hints will be much appreciated

keep it rwd converting to 4wd in a capri is going to be a real nightmare, gearbox wise have a hybrid mt75 made up from xr4x4 front end to give you the v6 bellhousing and a 2 litre 2wd rear end, that'll handle enough power. As for manifolds you'll need to get them specially made up and a pair of t3 turbo's will do perfectly.

why dont you put a 2.9 v6 from a xr 4x4 in and buy a turbo technics twin turbo kit that come up for sale every now and then. you should be able to get an engine and all the bits for around Ł600

i was only considering the 24v engine as i thought it would be a better engine for decent power
so the verdict so far is to keep it RWD
what about the T5, would that fit straight onto the v6 bellhousing?

the t5 will go with an adaptor plate (about Ł200 to get made) the 24v is a much stronger engine as it comes with a billet crank and forged pistons as standard, and was built to take 500 bhp from the factory. the heads on the normal 2.9 seriously restrict any major performance gains that can be made. oh and at 7 psi with the 24v you'll be looking at over 360 brake.

Still a very good choice of engine though
Mike.
