Deposits on pistons
What causes the deposits you can see on the pictures below (pistons #3 and 4) ?
How can it be fixed ?

looks like burnt oil to me.maybe valve guides or stem seals,or rings also looks like the valves kissed that piston a few times leaving the tell tale smiles. .might want to find the cause of that first

Thanks peeps, the contact is due to a cambelt failure, hence the head being off, having stripped the head, we found that the valve guides were worn to say the least.
Are the deposits a long term problem or just one of those things ?
