MK4 XR3i MFi twin carb conversion - help !!!!
Hi, I have a MK4 XR3i that I use for track days and have always wanted to convert to twin carbs can anyone advise what I need and how difficult it is to convert ? is it twin 40 webers that I will need - any help will be appreciated !! Thanks Marc
I think the only challenge is fuel pressure (mfi's to high for carbs...)
you'll need a fuel regulator to lower fuel pressure or a fuel pump from a xr3...
everthing is tried and tested stuff, shouldn't have any trouble!!!
good luck!

most tuners will recommend replacing the fuel pump for an uprated one. i had twin 40's with a facet red top pump, and malpassi fpr. i recommend them as best on market.
are you also getting any head work done? because twin 40's only really benefit from a head with larger ports and a higher profile cam etc. ive seen xr2's etc with only very minimal gains after installing twin carbs because the standard head was restricting the flow.
I also recommend taking them to an expert to get them properly jetted and set up for your engine because that is some fiddly shit.

What hes saying, as i understand it, is he needs to ditch the electronic pump an XR3i has, and get an XR3 pump (manual pump). READ more carefully

Do you mean mechanical pump?
twin 40's do require an electric fuel pump, mechanical pumps dont supply enough pressure, but you also need to regulate that pressure so that you get the right flow to the jets
