I wouldn’t be too concerned if you were giving it loads. This is what my Exh manifold looks like at the end of a 8 second power run on the chassis dyno

Would running lean also make the manifold get that hot?

Just a thought, before something melts!?

My fuel mixtures are fine mate (I mapped my own engine), thanks for the concern mate As stated above; a lean mixture would cause an increase in Exh gas temp, also overly retarded ignition timing would have the same effect too.

Realistically id say that my Exh manifold tends to glow so quickly cos it’s made from 1.6mm wall section stainless steel. I have had the manifold on the engine for approx 3 years now with no problem what so ever. Another bonus of the Exh manifold is that it is so light compared to the stock cast iron 2wd item.

Sorry to get off topic

Saff’s ok. I actually drove it today for the first time this month (I have been very ill ). I have a custom made strut brace that I need to fit (we can’t buy them here in Aus like you guys can) and have had a custom made carbon fibre air box that I need to fit too.

If I don’t end up in hospital again I want to take my Saff down the 1/4 to see what I can squeeze out of the T28 on a pair of “Street slicks”. Hopefully I will be able to go in a month or two

CheeRS,
Stu

Thanks Stu , A friend of mine (Jim Cowden) fabricated my Int and Exh manifolds. Yes he does sell them and has sent manifolds abroad. Your best email him direct with your questions. Be shore to let him know what turbo “flange” (T28, T3 etc) is required etc etc.

His email is……….. Jim_Cowden@Hotmail.com
