Default s2 anti-roll bar removal

ok, iv taken the anti roll bar off with the bottom arms stil attached.

iv come to undo the 24mm bolts where the bar passes thru the bottom arm, and they are just stuck, really stuck. iv tried an air gun with a small compressor, no joy there. iv tried a torque wrench with me hangin off it. no joy

iv been told 1 end of the anti roll bar will or may have a left handed thread. does any1 know which side is this left handed thread?? and any general ideas for removing these damn bolts wud also be great

drivers side is left handed thread mate so undo it the other way, i also did what you did and took it off in one piece, tip is to get your mate to stand on one end while you get a blowtorch and a large 24mm spanner and a scaf bar on the other, it will give in the end , other wise just get angry with it. worked for me! cheers mark.

little update as it seems the thread has been ful of advice

i stil cnt get the fooker to budge, neither side, impact wrench says no, breaker bar says no, several people holding whilst several others lean on breaker bar stil says no. lookin at maybe investing in a large piece of scaffolding

either that, or iv already bought new bottom arms, so mite just buy a replacement ARB and give up like the wimp me, and my mates, apparently are

Why dont u just bolt it back up on the brackets (4 bolts) and then undo it? I've undone loads of these on the car with a 2 foot (prob not even that) torque wrench

kind of stripped the car absolutely bare, so to bolt it back up wud mean bolting a fair wedge of other stuff bk up lol

also iv found out im still on a lower spec 22mm ARB, and the rs turbo runs a 24mm item, so the polybushes iv bought wil need the larger diameter ARB to b used, so i may aswel go buy the thicker 1, join it to my brand new bottom arms, then dump the old stuff in 1 go.

altho sayin that, its pissed me off so much i dnt want to admit defeat, we drank a whooooooooooooooole lot of beer and got absolutely nowhere, infact my m8 has been in bed with a bad back for a couple of days as a result lol lol

They can be a right slag to do. Like drive shaft nuts bit of a pet hate, first thing i do now before anything is get the torque wrench out with the car on the road and see if the bastard nut wants to play ball or not

You car a Genuine RS then?

nah, mines built from a 1.3 popular shell

had evrything else changed to rs spec, except for anti roll bar set up, didnt realise there was a difference to be quite honest

my hub nuts were fine wen using the impact wrench, but these arb bolts must have been dun up waaaaaaaaaaaaay too tight, by me aswel apparently accordin to my mate who helped me take it off last time, oops
