I want this built in 6mm steel to mount my diff to my rally car floor. How hard is it to weld something like this, seeing as Ive done the hard work, someone just has to copy my template.

If I dont get a resonable quote soon I will be welding it myself

If you want to keep the price down then I would buy the metal cut it and tack it together. If you haven't welded before then it may be best to get someone else to do the welding. With something that will take the stress of a diff bracket, you don't want to take any chances. Have a look for somewhere like 'Metal Supermarkets' for the metal. They specialise in small quantities of metal, but it does get expensive if you want them to cut every piece to the correct size. probably cheaper to buy an offcut and get the hacksaw out. MIG's are worth having and they seem fairly cheap now. Cebora are a good make, I've owned one for 20 years.....The only thing to be aware of is that as you weld brackets like this they do tend to distort as they are welded so if you were making lots you would make up a jig.

 

Dose it have to b that exact shape? if not using a piece of angle would b the easiest way as u can get this in many size's?

U will only have to drill 4 holes and shape it?

Could be done but the back of the vertical is on the exact line of the mounting bolt holes so welding is needed.

 

Can't u space the vertical mounting holes to suit and use longer bolts?

i've had to have parts made before trying to explain to someone when it would be quicker to do it yourself.i was in engineering 12years ago and its very fustrating

Try a small local firm state its 4 cash,and state exactly wot u want,and don't be put off by bull that sould only take an hour tops.
