Smoke!
hey guys and girls!
bit of advise required!
Was out in the turbo cab yesterday as you do on a sunday! gave her a bit and notice a bit of smoke!
not allot just a little bit,
so i stopped and noticed when i rev the car, and the turbo spins in and then i take foot off, as the revs drop down a tiny puff of blue smoke comes out of exhaust. now i know its not bottom end etc as i have just had 3.5k rebuild done at PTS. would this be the turbo? i took pipes off and there is play in turbo as i can move up and down and left to right (is this norm?)
any ideas what the problem could be? would it be the turbo? (i did think turbo was white somke?)
Any ideas would be a great help people

blue smoke when lifting off the throttle points toward an aging or worn turbo.
if its white smoke, generally means head gasket is shot,
blue smoke when engine is under load is piston/ring/bore wear.

if it still goes, then run it til it finishes itself off. a turbo could smoke for a year before its totally fucked. but if you want best performance then id change it.
do an exchange for a reconditioned unit. or if money is flowing, go all out and get an uprated number

yeah if it only smokes when you ease off throttle then its most likely the turbo. as you have had engine internals done recently then it aint that, also, if they were fooked it would be constantly smokey, more so when high revs
