cosworth saph wiring diagrams and engine transplants!
Having spent most of the weekend studying wiring diagrams for my Puma and spending several painful hours decoding the diagram to work out how easy it is (or isn't!!) to seperate the engine loom from the rest of the car, I have finally got to the stage of decoding cosworth engine looms so that I can work out how to integrate it to my car.
This is the simple diagram I have been using initially:

IS THAT IT?????
By comparison to my EEC V it is a peice of piss!!! Or am I missing something???
What surprises me is that there is no mention of an alarm system of any kind!!
The only doubts I have is ECU pins 26 and 9 which appear to have nothing on them??
All it seems I need to do is sort out a few relay feeds from the ignition to run my other car systems (lights etc) and hack out the ford alarm in my car.
So, electrically speaking, would this loom wired to a cossie lump be all I need to make it run and drive?????
If so I am very happy as I have more or less worked out how to rewire my cars auxilliary systems to work independantly of the ECU and engine loom!

the engine loom unplugs from main loom. the only wiring you need is
green - from coil negative to rev counter
red - from permanent +12V to both relays (pin 30)
black - from switched +12V to both relays (pin 86)
black/red - from fuel pump relay (pin 87) to fuel pump
brown/white - from temp sender to temp gauge
These are the car-engine loom connection

Just what I needed to know!!
So the wiring headaches are with my puma loom not the cossie loom!!
At the moment I could get it running but the car would drive with the alarm permenantly going off!!!!!! Might ditch ford alarm and get a new one later!

Now I'm stuck with a choice.
Go pectel now then bar a bit of loom rearrangement remap for the new engine.
Or stick with the std cossie loom.
The pectel option is dead easy and I even have wiring diagrams to do it as rally puma's used pectel T2. Solves all the dash and old/new loom issues in one sweep as its been done before. Downside- it is NOT cheap!!!
