What sort of sensors ?
Most just measure resistance or ohms so nothing major can be damaged.
Anything critical in the loom is protected by a fuse usually.

ay up mate
thanks for ya help,
iv'e got an escort gti, the revs was stuck at 3000, so i disconected the battery to reset the ecu and it seemed to do the trick, but when the car got hot it started to miss or simmer so they say at ford and lose power until i put the accelorater to the floor then it would shoot off. also had a rattle under the car, took it to ford at castleford told them what was going on, booked it in they said it was the spark plugs plus a broken wire on the coil. payed £96, on the way home it started to do the same thing, so took it back and they booked it in again, this time they said the coil was going so they changed it, and said it was fine now, payed £106 took it for a spin, and hay presto it started doing the same, so took it back they booked it in yet again, this time it was the wiring loom which they said was a common fault on the escorts which split and got water in, changed it payed £384, got it back took it for a spin and the same happend again but also lost all power. took it back now they had it for 2 weeks, then got a call saying the cat has gone but i knew that cos thats what the rattle was at first, also the thermostat had gone + poteniometer, what ever that is, and a sensor, payed £447 thinking i would get a refund for the other jobs done which seems to me what was done for nowt. i questioned the machanic and he said the damage to the wiring loom caused the other faults, please can you shed some light on this?
ps start date 27/12/05 finish date 21/2/06. is this normal
thanks

I seriously think you have been taken for one heavy ride mate.
I take it it is out of warranty ?
Plugs and leads could have been easily checked by doing a simple resistance check on them to see if one was faulty / breaking down.
Coils dont generally phase out to cause problems - they either work or they dont.
Wiring looms - all the wires inside it are protected with outer sleeves are they not. Unless you had a constant drip of water pouring over joins all day long they are built to with stand damp. Most plugs used in the engine bay are weatherproof either outside or inside.
They didn't have a clue what the problem was IMHO and are going round in circles looking for it at your expense.
After the first payment was made you should have got confirmation that the fault you brought the car in for had been fixed. That way you have paid to have the fault fixed, anything else needed subsequently should have been at their expense as they didn't do the job you asked.

THANKS AGAIN, NUTS rus.
ya iv,e been on a long ride, they said it was the thermostat that was making the car judder when hot, the thermostat was telling the ecu it was cold so more fuel was given, and thats what i took it in for, so its sound like it was the thermastat all along, beats me how a ford dealer could miss something as simple as that,.
thank you
ps. i plan to take this to head office and more, could i use your information as some back up please.
