Default Tail happy Ford Ranger!

My father in laws 52 plate Ranger crew cab is very tail happy, the back is always stepping out without warning and it aint his driving style! several people have driven it (its kinda like a pool car) and they all say the same. Its had 2 new leaf springs cos 1 was broken but other than that its only a 3 year old car and hasn't done any hard work really. Any suggestions? All looks normal, nothing bent etc

I used to have a ford ranger as a company van and that used to be the same if there was no weight in the back it was even worse when braking hard

I've got an 04 Ranger XLT, Mine is exactly the same. I put a couple of bags of iron shot in the back as ballast (about 75Kg), makes it a lot better and also makes the ride a little softer.
The leafs on the rear tend to crack due to not having any weight on them (bear in mind you can supposedly put over a tonne on the back), doesn't do them any harm to have a bit of a load on now and then.
