Esc cos elekron valve question(problem fixed)
Is there any way of testing the small turbo elekron valve to see if its working as it should be.
I'm trying to cure the lack of boost and i've just changed standard dump valve diaphragm as it was split (thanx Stu) and car is running better but still not enough boost.
Ajusting actuator not made a lot of difference so thinking elekron valve maybe faulty.
With actuator pipe disconnected it boosts right off the gauge btw.
Any other ideas
Thanx Chris

What do you mean by not enough boost? what your spec etc?
by elektron valve, do you mean amal valve?

You can apply power to it seperately and see if it energises, but thios wont telll you if the ecu is activating it.
Best bet is to simply either:
A) Unplug it and see if the boost drops
Or
B) Bung the bleed output and see if boost drops.
PJ,
Electron valve is correct for the 2 port valves, and it is in escense the amal valve as found on earlier models, it just works on a slightly different principle.

Right i,ve tested boost level with electron vale connected and disconnected and its exactly the same.
How do i now find out if its the valve failed or ecu not sending a signal to it?
I had the problem of ecu not sending a signal to amal valve on 4x4 saph i had before this car. I just put in a manual switch to amal valve to overcome this to run higher boost when required.
Can this be done with electron valve?
If it is ecu problem and this can,t be done whats the solution, bleed valve?
Thanx Chris

i had a faulty one when i had my small turbo model, the valve can be unclipped to check the insides if thats any help,on mine one of the lugs inside had come apart [theyre only held on with a bit of melted plastic!]this was allowing the boost to bypass it all the time, maybe worth a quick check?

After trying a new elecktron valve without success started looking elsewhere.
It turned out that previuos owner had been playing about with the pipework and restricters between actuator and electron valve.
Bought a new set from ford (£42
) adjusted actuator a little, problem solved
Thanx for help
Cheers Chris
