wideband lambda probe and gauge, readings
hello, i am currently running a innovate wideband lambda gauge and prove kit in my (ahem) corsa turbo. have asked for help on vauxhall sites, yet nobody seemed to know.
the car on idle, reads between 14.0 and 15.2 on idle, which i beleve 14.7 is optimum.
im having dificulty setting up the fuel pressure and was wondering what a good reading for full throttle on full boost would be? it was roughly around 11.0 last night, today tried it a touch richer at 9.0 and it seems to be holding back more. ive searched the net, cant seem to find many topics on such products and readings.
hope you can help, many thanks

hi mate depends on boost ur running i am only running 7 psi at WOT my afr is about 11.2 at the min
i would say 9 is far too rich and chance suffering the performance as you are putting in far to much air for the amount of air
i would put it bk to about 11.+ even cars with big nos kits only run 10.5.1afr so 9 is basicly killing your power but giving you more protectin against knock/det as you are slowing down the burn so the fuel cools the cylinder
start at 10 and lean of as much as you can the retard the timing if you can by about 3-4 degrees
hope this helps

thanks for the reply. yes big help indeed.
its running 1.8 bar over boost and holding at around 1.6bar currently. the problem i have is im trying to set the fuel pressure using the lambda gauge. shall try it around the 11's and see what happens. felt a lot slower today than it did last night, should have just left it alone i guess.
thanks again

i think you all doing very big mistke runing so RICH up to 0.7 bar you dont need to be lower then 13-12.5 but it depends on the ignition timing and C.R also i would advise to use the WB with EGT gauge and see the temps not above 750c
also to raise the fule presure is nice but you will get over fueling off boost
about the ideal ther is not a formula that your engine sould be at 14.7 AFR
you should give him what he needs i saw engines that ideal fine with 15.5-16.5 AFR but also i see engins that ideal at 13 so befor you play with it please do some resarch about it because you can damege you engine easly!!

Set it up to have the idle and low load and RPM points leaner than stoichiometric (14.7) otherwise you'll coke up your plugs a treat and unless you have a fine sand blaster to hand you'll go through plugs like no tomorrow! (im talking from experience!!!)
As was previously said, 9 is too rich, 10 on boost is still conservatively rich!
Its all a game of trial and error really.
Are you running a standard map on the ECU and then playing with fuel pressure to get lambda right?! If so then you'll never get the best of both worlds if your running more boost.

not a standard ecu, its a phase 4 eds mapped ecu (vauxhall c20let engine).
the ecu sorts out the mixture on idle, it keeps jumping between around 14.2 to 15.0 as it keeps adjusting itself.
im trying to use the lambda gauge to get the fuel pressure right basically as i cant seem to find any info as to what its supposed to be set at.

What pressures have you been playing around between? Have you got a fuel pressure gauge, if not, get one or borrow one, and try setting the fuel pressure to 3.5bar, unless your injectors are undersized for this application or the tuners were experimenting with high pressure in the rail for better spray from the injector nozzle, it shouldnt be too far off that.
ah, the good old auto data book????
really, i think i need to stop messing about and get a fuel pressure gauge so i dont do some serius damage. it was fine last night, i have no idea why i decided to fiddle with it again. has made things worse.
thanks for all the help so far

ive adjusted the fuel pressure reg graually making it leaner, it now sits about 10.8 on full throttle.
car feels much much faster, and seems to be running extremely well.
many thanks for all the advice and help

well, more woes now.
started car up, reversed off driveway, moved maybe 20ft from house and engine started to knock.
one of the liners i had pressed in has slipped somehow downwards maybe nearly 1cm, and the crank has smashed away what it could of it.
typical vauxhall. rebuild time, again.
