TIP: Cossie clutch cable replacement
I wasted sweat, blood and tears trying to do this VERY simple job, so I thought I'd let you know what I found out to save you hassle.
Reading the workshop manual isn't overly clear, the ONE thing you need to know is this:
When you lift the clutch pedal (prop it up with a piece of wood or something), it [b]frees the ratchet mechanism[b].
If you are taking the old cable out, lift the pedal, crawl under the car, unhook the cable from the clutch release mechanism, then you'll be able to release the cable from the clutch pedal.
Refitting is the reverse, slide the cable over the clutch pedal, make sure it is raised, then crawl under the car, and using a pair of pliers pull the cable into the clutch release mechanism. Easy.
And there I was trying to pull the cable inside the car, over the clutch pedal, fighting the ratchet mechanism, blah blah, blah.
It really is a 5 minute job.
Hope this helps someone
