Default Is 27 too old to be driving a modified Fiesta?

As the title suggests...

I've now turned 27, I'm driving a modified 1.4 Fiesta Zetec and I feel like a complete tit!

I see 18/19 year old lads driving similar cars and I feel like it's time to move on and do other things. I have a massive passion for gadgets, TV, seeing places and I've completely lost my interest in going to show's, meets etc etc.

I don't think you can put an age on things like what car you drive. If you're not enjoying it anymore then fair enough but you should be getting to the age where you don't care what other people think or building up age stigma's in your head.

Just enjoy what you enjoy, and don't do what you don't.

It's just the entire car scene mate...

It's full to the brim of elitist little tossers ' Your car's not on air ride, it's not lowered' Tracksuits, joggers and nike hurrache things everywhere, everyone seems to be into vaping.

I went to Ford Fest last year, had a look at the Fiesta owners clubs, to say I was the eldest person there wouldn't be far wrong. Next to no Cosworths, RS Turbos etc etc and the vast majority of the car's were focus ST's and mk7 Fiesta ST's with TRC splitters, coilovers... so on, same shit, different car.

You're 24, I'm 27. I'm nearly 30 =\

My fiesta ST was written off and it made me re-evaluate my life. I had to re use my chavbox modified fiesta zetec.

I'd be half tempted to get rid and not have a car at all, if I lived somewhere with reliable public transport.

Not much in it though, I have the cossie for the summer and meets and shows and he fiesta is a scruffy daily scuffed bumpers and scratched door but I'll slowly tidy it up but for now I really don't care what people think but that's me it sounds like you've made your mind up so sell up and get something else

I don't see why certain car scene's should stop you from enjoying your car though.

Donning my flame suit here, but out of all the meets I've been too the ford ones are the worst. I went to a local one recently and couldn't even spark up a conversation with anyone there. Just got people grunting and turning their back on me. It was really sad as their facebook group was promoting new people to go down but the members had no interest in meeting anyone new.

However, this does not stop me from enjoying my car.

Not a lot to enjoy about a 12 year old Ford Fiesta...

I went to a 'Fords Life' meet back in 2014, within 20 minutes I'd got back into my car and driven away... Never met such an ignorant, arrogant bunch of people ever. ONE person made the effort to speak to me at Ford Fest, and that was a Focus RS owner. The entire scene has gone up its own arse, it was sooo much better back in the late 90's and early 00's other than the bad taste in bodykits.

I always keep my cars clean and look after them well. But I'm growing increasingly bored with it and often think... I'm just tared with the same brush.

Saw a local mechanic the other day bombing round town in a slammed saxo vtr (he's 46) and he looked like a total bell end. Was flat out everywhere. Mind u he's had at least 20 driving bans and never grown up lol

I was invited to a local ford meet with what we were told was the best new ford club around. And remember we were invited. I'm in my saph Cossie and my mates in his Escos and another mate in a rather snorty sounding mk1 fiesta. We came up the long road to get into the place flat out with all sorts of noises goin off, pull into the car park and it's wall to wall focus, and newer fiestas. I think we pissed on their fireworks. Only
One old guy spoke to us and after 20 minutes we left. Everyone was just staring at us like we were aliens or something. They were all young lads though

I used to be in to the veedub scene (had a few camper vans and some mk2 golfs), last few shows I went to was all modded up new golfs and polos on airbags, hardly any of the old air cooled stuff. I remember a time when I was embarrassed to take the golf to a show as it was too new but there was hardly any air cooled stuff and I hate anything that has been sticker bombed..!

Is vaping the new the new thing then? I know of a couple of folk that vape and they didn't even smoke...

Know what you mean, I'm 25 and I still own a mk4 fiesta, and I use the fiesta pages on facebook, I feel like the oldest one on there sometimes, and the only one who can talk like an adult! (seriously what is this m9 shit??) doesn't help that half of them aren't fiesta owners and are jut trolling (happened big time with 106an saxo owners recently, the way they went on you'd swear not even rods saph stands a chance). If you still enjoy driving it, then bollocks to anyone else, why should they decide what you do, they don't pay your bills! If you don't enjoy the car any more, then sell, but don't sell it cause of the rep within the car "scene"

I see loads of people I work with and thats all they do, I really see no point in it.

With regards to shows/cars.

The cars now are just chequebook cars, hardly any at shows are original and under huge amounts of money. Its who has the best paint job/air ride setup/expensive custom wheels. Its getting worse unfortunately. The amount of debt some kids must be in is unreal, I saw on instagram one of the rotiform dealers just purchased some huge house with pool in florida so business must be good.

Old air cool dubs are awesome, I love beetles... Always will!

I hate all this 'That's sick, oh so fresh' shit... It's a different world now. I hate those stupid snapback caps and baseball style shit... This isn't fucking LA! get a grip! Only thing the younger generation think of when it comes to EsCos's is the wheels and running silly stretch to fit them under the arches of a mk6 Fiesta ST.

The mk7 Fiesta ST is a great little car, but my god am I sick of seeing the bloody things, day in, day out and it's always some little bell end who has the car on lease. I'm an old Ford lover at heart. RST's, Cosworths etc etc. That's why I originally signed up on here.

Perhaps I'm being a little over anxious about my appearance.

being very active as all passionford regulars know in the shows and meets scene, my biggest pet hate from any club is cliques or worst still somebody looking down their nose at you etc, no matter what car or age a true enthusiast is they should be treated with respect, I do not stand for any anti social behavior or cliques on my stands at shows/events or meets, Im nearly 50 and still drive sporty fords and will till I die

It's good to know that there is still people like you around, that treat everybody the same regardless to what the badge on their car is...
IF and it's a big IF, should I attend a show again, I'll pop over to a PF stand.

Well im 43 years older than you so have been a complete tit for a lot longer . It comes with driving old Fords it makes no sense & we should know better but we still do it. You sounds as if its not really your bag in which case walk away & do something else. I did not buy a modified Ford until I was 51 & should have known better.

Why not save for a timeless cossie!

You are only as old as you feel, when i had a mk6 fiesta ST there was this woman who also got one and she was 49! I went to a meet and she was one of the only two that spoke to me! Like you said the meet scene has gone.

When i first got my cossie i went to a meet and everything was so "clicky", I just did not fit in. So i just get whatever car makes me happy and drive it in my own time with people i know and fit in with. Ive just got a RS3 and would love to go to a meet but don't think i will since ill be walking around on my own, might go to a show just for a look but thats different.

Still look forward to shows just not to meet ANYONE up sadly.

Ive heard it a few times at car shows where a few lads have walked past some cars and slagged them off.

When i used to do my ford meets every ford was welcome weather it be a 300 quid car to a 30k car.

i've not attended any meets for the past 10 years, but i did manage a couple of shows recently. Classic ford was great! the only complaint i have is the lack of traders (there never have been loads of traders at pod when i've been though), the other show was ford fair, which had a nice mix of cars, even though some of them were the same car but with different coloured wheels/badges etc. i completely avoided the electric orange focus brigade, i guess it's something you enjoy if you have one, but makes it very boring to look at a load of standard cars.

the things that interest me are custom cars; things that have bits made to fit, or strange engine conversions. i love seeing how it's been done and how well it works. I'm more than happy to talk to anyone about their car if it has something done to it that interests me.

only other thing that bugs me about shows is people playing their shite bassy music loud. guess that must be an age thing though, as i used to love my 12" RF punch subs i even have a sub in my sapphire now, but it's turned right down for sound quality reasons

Hmm, I hate that bass thing as well, but It's more the music that they play... 'Drake' seems to be the choice these days

When I was at Fordfair 2013 I was admiring a S1 that was an absolute pearl, next to it was a stupid mk6 Fiesta on Hydraulics. Some lad came running up to the car thinking I was looking at that and immediately started dancing and waving his hands saying 'sick int it mattte!?' I replied with. No mate, I was looking at the S1, not your fastcar magazine car.

the scene has changed.. few years ago i used to go to ford meets.. people were sound and down to earth.. the car used to get loads of attention and the people would talk for ages.. nowadays its new sts and fiestas so maybe because they dont appeal to you it seems crap..plus the scene in all the meets are changing.. younger people turning up and having a smoke..no more old skool cars with proper petrolheads driving as the cars are getting older and worth alot of money so getting put away instead

Thats most of the "youth of today" these days sadly.

No respect for anyone or anything thats not in thier scene is the way people are.

Speaking like a retarded fucking cunt etc etc

Unless we stamp on it as older folk, that will sadly be the language of the future

The world is changing for the worse in terms of social communication. Young people don't meet people at shows or meets anymore. They do that online nowadays. The physical meets are group entertainment not opportunities to meet others. Hence why you get a cold shoulder turning up when no one knows you.

These days i prefer kit car shows to ford shows. every car literally is different - not surprising when individually built and its a scene that has no age boundaries, albeit there are more middle age and above people. I guess the cost of kit cars and the fact you need some real skill to make one, limits its appeal so you simply dont get the chav scum element.

I was gonna go to the classic motor show this year, hoping there would be no chavs, but that might be the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

I've had a chat to a guy with a kit car at a petrol station, he said it had a 1600 pinto in it. He was quite shocked that someone in a fiesta was interested in his car.

sadly now everything is done on line, no one actually goes out and meets new people. Everything just is so expensive so I suppose its cheaper for people to sit at home and chat online and make up some fantasy world to impress people.

At 27 mate I was driving a Modified Mk5 Zetec S. It started off as a shed and I work away on it until I got it as I wanted it finished. Then I bought a Mk2 Focus ST which was a 5 DR Track Car but will full leather interior (got written off) now I drive a Saph Cossie and I'm 31 mate. Yeah people may give you looks for driving the car but I'd happily be in the Fiesta if I still had it. Loved that car

Being nearly 30 and having a noisy st as my daily car, it seems allright to me

If you focus (no pun intended :P) just on the show scene then I can see the issue with image, but then I've always liked cars but shows/meets have never appealed to me.

I prefer track days and actually driving, done a few autosolos in mine too... people in the local motorsport clubs are very welcoming and knowledgable.

I turn 29 this year and i'm looking at my first Ford Escort, don't let little things like this put you off. Yeah you'll get the latest Fiesta/Focus ST's & RS's alll looking the same/similar because of spoilt little shits taking handouts off mummy & daddy.

27 ....I've got t-shirts older than that.

That's the great thing about driving Fords, being a complete tit is ageless.

Quick Reply: Is 27 too old to be driving a modified Fiesta?
