The tank has been on my car over 4 years now and I've had no probs with fuel surge at all.
if I didnt think the tank was up to the job I wouldnt of fitted it.

You can't tell me every new part you fit at work is right first time.
How many of our Saffs, Escos,3 doors etc have got pattern parts fitted to them when the old original ones have become faulty, loads of them have I bet.Alternators, starter motors, power steering racks, track rods etc etc.

Why would you be thinking a brand new petrol tank was faulty. Pattern parts are made for nearly every vehicle on the road including all the prestige cars.My friend has a BMW X5 and has recently had some repairs done using pattern parts with no problems.

Well said matey. Not all of us cause spends thousands on our cars.
How many people put non genuine discs and pads on there cars for example.
yes I do. But unlike some I’m not out to rip off or make a killing. I have reasonable priced parts to help people not pay stupid prices for “original” Ford parts.
Sapp sill clips, wing brackets for front skirt, jacking point covers, towing eye cover, spoiler cap covers, 3 door spoiler caps and more. I don’t advertise much, mostly by world of mouth or recommendations.
I’m not copying parts I’m making better items. Lots have my sill clips and they are very happy . Even sent some to Sweden.

Fair play to you Rob nice looking parts.
3dr spoiler caps and saff caps would be a good seller.
And if on a std clutch set up how about the plastic part the clutch arm rests on for the T5 box?

robrs2 I think you could have the potential to get a good business going with your skill at reproducing parts. There must be hundreds of parts for all types of classic cars which are no longer available or if there are any, being sold for crazy money so I think what you are doing must have a good future.
Anyway besides that. I have had a few very happy people use my sapphire sill clips and a lot of requests for other parts.
That's what you think but the cost of remaking stuff is very high. For example I would need to sell 42 sets of the sill clips I have to recover my costs. As I started doing the clips for my own car I'm not too bothered. I guess I'll get there one day
Door strips and window rubbers would need tooling to be made and the cost of that is way out of my league. If someone does them don't expect the price to be less than someone selling new old stock

can you post a shot of the reverse side of your jack cover s please fella
exactly that mate, the tooling costs of reproduction parts is very expensive. I shopped around to get my moulds made for saph jack covers which cost me a few grand, one company wanted 20 grand to make the moulds, suffice to say I continued looking around. When I first started selling them I wanted to do them fairly cheap but a well known trader around the ford scene said to me “no come in high to recoup your production costs and there is room further down the line to adjust the price” I’m glad I listened to him, I have got my mind set of other products and the next project the tooling will cost me 5 grand, that’s a fair bit of money and a calculated risk, I’d have to sell a fair few of them before I’d start making any profit.
They would be really tricky to make in the same way Ford did and I doubt I would get close to breaking even with such a small market !
Yes your original tank was leaking so you replaced it for a aftermarket tank. Which is fine I was just stating a fact that I know of 3 aftermarket tanks where there was a problem with fuel surge.
so in my opinion if I could still be able to get a new old stock tank I would. As it's not really a big price to pay.
And like I said how do you know your new aftermarket tank is ok before you fit it.?
Do you drive it hard ? Do you track it ? Have you a 15k engine? If the answer to all 3 is no then your probably be ok.
And yes I do use quality aftermarket parts on mine and yes I have had new genuine items fail too.
I think ajamesc has a aftermarket tank and I think he is using a swirl pot system in the boot.
Like all cars if you cannot afford them don't have them and don't complain about prices.
I seen this earlier. Somebody making 3d printed escort cosworth centre caps.

I am sure you will understand what I mean if you have both.
Twin pipes on a sierra nice touch.
cheers
Paul
I'm pretty sure the pattern one is metal as I asked before buying as was going to powder coat it, didn't want to melt the insides
It's the pick up pipe for the pump is the problem on other tanks from memory it goes up from pot then down if that make sense hence why fuel surge on low fuel conditions.
