Default Ford Nouveau Red - Primer colour??

Hi all,

Got a jacking point cover to spray.

It's a black plastic part.

Spray colour is (Hycote) Ford Nouveau Red Metallic.

I've tried a few websites but no listing for what colour primer to use.

Any ideas folks??

Cheers

Standard grey primer should be fine.

Ok, I only asked as I cought an episode of gas monkey and they struggled to match a green.....they tried a different primer and it matched.

Just seems odd there's no listings for the primer.

I'll give it ago.

Grey will be fine as long as it’s covered properly. If your that worried use a red primer

You may need to finish it with clear coat as its metallic.

I am not sure if its just your photo but to me it looks like you have missed some small bits which are still showing the grey primer.? Make sure you cover all over the parts. You must still have some paint left in the can .Aerosol spray painting can result in a top finish, take your time and you should be pleased with the end result. Restored this old Honda motorbike, all re-painted with aerosols.

Must be the light/photo....there well covered both sides.

Sprayed many a thing with cans and got really good results.

As with most things it's in the prep, primed, flatted it out..tack wiped..etc...

painted this with an old can I found in my dad's old garage years ago.

Chassis hight mock up

Nice one, must have been the light when you took the photo, seems like you are spot on with your aerosol painting.

You can get great results with aerosols, I've painted quite a few bits before. As said though it's all in the prep and take your time!
