Some good progress lately, Gearbox man took longer than he said and the fly wheel turned out to be for a mt75 box that he only discovered at clutch fitting time but the company changed it.

It goes.
Had a run up the street tonight a few issues to sort.
Bonnet hits the VVT solenoid
It’s not overly keen on starting from cold but starts perfect after first start. Any clues as what to do??
Throttle travel is small.
And brakes probably need another bleed

Got it mot’d today with no advisories
. Tester described it as a brand new car. Still having starting issues from cold but suspect the pump. Done a rolling test from 2nd gear against my S2 and it goes really well.
Son no1 described it as savage. lol

Had a problem with the front brakes locking on. Obviously suspect the master cylinder but its a brand new one fitted. It worked for a while before the fault. Could it be plumbed up wrong causing this after use?

Yes I think that could help. There is a bit of cabodgitation to get the angle correct with the Mondeo ms and the Fiesta bracket and I think that will be the cause.

I’ve just put a new head on mine. As the cambelt shed a load of teeth. Has always started first time. Even after renovating the Inlet components.
When setup properly runs really sweet.
If your putting this into your Fiesta. You will end up with a fantastic car.
Well done

Well the brakes have not broke again but he has tools in the car to do diagnose the problem if it happens again and has done the sensible thing of..... buying an other box from Motorsport Electronics to control the VVT. They claim up to a 40lbf of torque with it fitted.
We think the engine has has the mod to the timing on the exhaust cam. Is there any easy way to tell? It doesn’t have a vernier.
VVT controller from Motorsport Eletronics.

If it’s still got the original cam pulleys on it’s just a case of slackening of the bolts and re doing the timing.
have a read before you do, I can’t remeber what direction you move the inlet pulley to set it.

Well the fitting of the VVT controller didn’t go well. The nodiz ignition ecu got fried due to a wiring anomaly! Should be good for take 2 next week.

Little update. Got a new nodiz ecu and it was back up and running but still without the VVT Then he started to have clutch problems for a few day until eventually no drive at all so it was put away for the winter.
Yesterday he removed the box an the plastic release bearing locating pins had broken he thinks causing the bearing to jam. Still not investigated the brake issue.

This part was also designed and made.
It convert the very small throttle travel of the motor bike carbs to a longer travel for the Fiesta accelerator.
He said it’s the first time he’s used trigonometry for something useful.

So today’s task was to cut the bonnet to clear the VVT solenoid.
I’d love to say I taught him everything he knows about metal fabrication but it would be a bare faced lie!
still work in progress but getting there.

So this is where he got to at end of play today.
He wanted to avoid the hacked bashed method of achieving clearance. I think he’s done that.
