Default Audi TT roadster

I bought this little TT quite cheaply, I was owned by the chairman of the TT owners club for most of its life.

It has Spax shocks, new discs and pads, 260 bhp remap with new Samco hoses (one of the standard ones is known to collapse and is restrictive.) cambelt and water pump recently changed. Seems to go pretty well and I believe it may have a hybrid KO4.

There was some corrosion at the bottom of the front wings and the drivers side light kept filling up with water so I thought today I would whip the wings off to get them stripped and treated before new paint plus wanted to fix the light....can't believe you have to take the whole front end off to get a light out.

Turns out the top of the light had a crack in it so I repaire that where it could not be seen with fibre glass and tiger seal.

Treated the corrosion where the ally wing touches steel sill.

These have been on a little while, rides very well and not firm at all.

Bit of rust where wing meets body

Finally got the light out but took the whole bumper off anyway, I think whilst it is off I will replace the two tiny intercoolers with a nice front mount if I can buy one second hand or cheaply enough, just missed a Forge one at a breakers for Ł70. With decent intercooler, bigger injectors and higher fuel pressure they can be mapped to just over 300bhp with standard internals (bam engine code)

This is the bottom of an ally wing, I wonder if the last edge is steel? Will use a magnet on them, you can tell the wing is ally though as very light, I wonder if the steel has stuck to the ally as the edges of the wings are powdery ally.

Inside the edge of wing, there is seam sealer round it so this is what makes me think some of it is steel?

Edge of wing. Will get it back to bare metal but need to check that the body shop I use knows how to work with Ally, he does a lot of vintage landies so he should be fine

I really like it mate, they are nice to drive and easy to live with, being modern enough they are not hard work like a classic. Very sure footed, i was at a junction and dialled in 4000 rpm and dropped the clutch in 1st, it chirruped the tyres a bit and just hooked up, the fronts spin then it shifts power back.

I think I will probably own it for a while, At the moment I prefer it to our Mini Cooper S convertible.

Hi Glenn, on the inside / underside I have ground away as much as I can, then rough sanded and just used kurust and then gone over with an anti rust paint. Where it can be seen I will give that to a body shop to do. I will also order some bilt hamber.

I will get som seat pics up, I love them but I know baseball leather is marmite

I had trouble with rusty wheel arch lips on the front wings of my Audi S4, the scabs turned to holes once wire brushed

Pattern wings were so cheap I took a chance and bought a pair for less than Ł50 and had them sprayed off the car.

The panel gaps were way better than I had expected and I got lucky with the colour match !

They feel small as you sit low with high doors but they are not cramped, plenty of boot space and room in the hood

Wings nearly back on, bare metalled and treated then re painted, my mate has a body shop. Ł200 per side all in and done in 4 days. Need quick polish and final fit up then bumper back on. Have resisted a front mount intercooler for now.

Will get the wheels rerurbished soon

Thanks, should be all back together tomorrow. I think even though it was remapped it needs another map as I don't believe it is making the quoted 260bhp..I think it is 230 ish and that is reflected in the vag com read out.
