The crank is .25 on the mains and .50 on the big ends with 400bhp . Would that be a problem do you think Martin ?
The crank was standerd and .25 before it went rong and it 100% cleaned up when it was ground

Quick question and excuse me for not reading the whole thread. But what benefit is there in using the skyline box?

I smashed 2 boxes in a week at 579bhp and it was only when I splashed the cash on a os giken box that it became reliable (touch wood)

Did you check to see if it's straight? I'd have ground yours and sold it on, then put a bit extra on top and bought a crank that's never had trauma.

I think the skyline box is generally good for 500bhp in standard form plus the focos is a lot lighter than a skyline so less stress. I suspect the torque on a 579 bhp engine is much more than a 400bhp Cossie puts out so that coupled with weight would count for destroying the box. The cossie boxes break after the torque that comes with 400bhp setup plus the skyline box is active so you can have the 2wd option plus the controller and active map to shift the power around as per the Ets pro.

The skyline boxes can be picked up for under £1000 compared to the £5k / £6k my oppliger mt75 box cost to take similar power reliably. Agreed though that is gicken should be good for 700 or maybe even more reliably AND you can have shorter gear ratios.

its mad that cossie prices have overtaken skyline prices in the ten years I've been out of the ford scene.

My escort cossie box cost £250 when I broke it back in 200. Whatever it was And a skyline box would have cost 10 times that back then. Now it appears that prices have reversed (almost).

I paid £4.5k for my os box and as much as it is inherently stronger, it's the long first gear that makes the biggest difference imo. I get 55 in first and have clocked 0-60 in 3.2 on road tyres on the road (vbox with no rollout).

This was on ebay it did not sell at £350 so I offered him £300 and the deal was done . Iv had to send it all to the DVLA as there is a small problem with the tax on my car going back befor I bort the car witch stopped me from doing it on line

Not much has happened as of late until last week when I made up my mind to remove the anti pump tappets witch are doing my head in . Well as it had been some time sins I'd last drove the car I tuck it for a spin and it went 100% on getting home and starting to to put it into the garage the car cut out and would not start . Well on checking wot was going on with the motor . I found that the inlet cam pully bolt had come lose . And as I'v got pegged pullys it allowed the timing to move witch it did 180% I'm sorry to say and it bent all 8 inlet valves. All the new parts have now turned up and the rebuild will start in the new year

Well I've had a day on the car today . All the new valves are now in . As I finished stripping the head down I found 4 of the exhaust valve stem seals had ripped so would of been letting oil go down the valves . But as I was doing a full rebuild I had got some new ones . All so as it was in bits I've given the inlet side of the head a light port

I was always told get genuine 4x4 lifters as they are completely different to the crap ones people sell now as you say cheap are around £90 and proper 4x4 items if you can get them are about £220

Well I'm glad to say it's all back together . And I'm over the moon with it . The motor feels so positive now . I think part of the could be that I've replace the vibro Tech engine mounts as I had some rally style mounts witch are very hard but has made it feel very ferm and positive . I've all so put a new set of tappets in the head and it's never sounded better . All so as Martin asked me about wot oil temps it been seeing I've invested in a stack oil temp gauge witch is all so in and working very well . All so befor the timing went rong I fitted a lot of -AN fittings as I was fead up with juberly clips and it made sense at it would not be good having a water pipeletting go on the track . I've all so put two bottles on the bulkhead to work as breathers catch bottles for the gearbox . So the next job on the list is remove the rear diff as it now imported weir supra diff kit .
