I was looking at Cossie Daves plumbing yesterday after discussing with Mark the pressure on my system and I can see that a lot of the headers have 3 pipes, mine has 2, a feed and a return from the turbo.
Why do they have 3? This could be my issue?
My car has an ally updated pug 205 rad, the expansion line is blocked off, I wonder if the rad should have that connected back to the expansion tank as well as the return from the turbo? Mark said to plumb it like the Cossie.
I have circled the 2. I bought a standard Sierra expansion to try and that has only 2 in total.
The standard header tank on my 4x4 also has 2 pipes, a feed and a return from the turbo. I think the header tanks with 3 pipes have an extra connection for the small line from a swirl pot if used.
I am wondering If I should try adding a swirl pot simply to allow anothe expansion back to the tank. I am also wondering if the standard Sierra header I have is off a non Cossie which may have the wrong pressure relief cap. Hopefully Pete from spec r will reply to my email from last week about a bespoke tank and correct cap for the pug shell.
your 2 arn't or shouldn't be a feed and return to /from the turbo, the turbo gets its feed from the thermostat housing, the return goes back tothe header yes, the other one on the header tank comes off the water pump
as said the small top one is a return from a swirl pot if fitted
I wonder if I should still take the expansion line from the 205 rad back there too but that may cause complications. If I can get to be reliable enough I can take it to someone like Pete at spec r and get him to do a rad and bespoke intercooler
