Default New car for the Mrs. Any ideas?

It's time to punt her Peugeot on and now looking at replacements. Criteria is a budget of 11k, green (£20 VED at most), 5 doors, not be completely gutless. Shortlist currently;

Fiesta Eco-Boost
VW Polo 1.2 TFSi
Renault Clio 1.5Dci (trying to avoid)

Any other suggestions?

I'm on the lookout for a new car for the Mrs too. I've got a smaller buggery but keep coming back to the fiesta. Seems like the best small car out there.

Looking at chopping our lasses 1.0 naff all whizz mobile this summer

Have friends that work at mazda and Mercedes who both can get decent discounts for me so it's either an A class or a mazda 2

Not looked at specs as yet but best pull my finger out soon..

Any advice on the above 2?

What's worrying is that would indicate you type buggery more often than budget

Fiesta or Fabia for me, really liking the shape of the the latest Skodas and personally I prefer the fiesta in a 3 door. But, that's purely an aesthetics thing and it's still a great wee car.

Why not keep the 11k in the bank and get a car on pcp, something like a vw,skoda,seat. They offer 0% on pcp deals they even pay your deposit. Im sure our local ford are doing deals on less than 2% apr

I'd go Fiesta or Polo myself.

As someone said above, it's worth looking at some of the finance/lease deals out there too, as there are some great deals around on new stuff, which means warranty and zero hassle.

Seriously, have a test drive in a Cactus. You can pick up nearly new ones for £12k, the 1.2 petrol is plenty quick enough or the 1.6 diesel will do 70mpg. Plenty of room inside and that bit different.

I got one as my choice of company car and have to say I find it hard to fault (i'm no fan of new cars generally). Wife loves it so much that she wants me to buy it when the time is up to replace it.
