Default 05 fiesta 1.25 engine conversations? Pls help my good friend :-)

A good friend of mine has just bought himself an 05 fiesta 1.25 in anticipation of getting his license back in December. Like the rest of us he's a ford man through and through and I'm going to see if the folks on here can put him in the right direction. He's not afraid of pulling it apart and will get stuck in. The question he's asked me is what's the most straightforward way to a bigger lump and more power. And I'm not that sure so there's no better place to ask the question as far as I'm concerned. I know majority of people are going to go along the lines of a turbo lump but this will be built on a strict budget and be a bit of a sleeper.
So more of a bolt in conversation so to speak

Thanks in advance as usual folks. CheeRs, John

If its a 1.25 just now then the easiest swap would be the puma 1.7

Sell it and buy a Fiesta ST. Waste of time dicking with it as an engine swap after a ban will be monstrous to insure. Unless he's going to be a prick and swap the engine and not disclose it, hopefully not

Nah the insurance isn't an issue. Works for his cousins dealership and on there insurance so would be all mods declared. He's been insured like that since he passed his test at 17 and 39 now. Just wants to get his hands dirty and build something that he can call his own, think I've been a bit of an influence on that side lol.

Don't suppose you have any links to give him an idea of what bits to start buying? Buying an engines not a problem but it's all the bits that make it all work

Buy a complete car, MOT fail maybe. The bits not used can be sold to offset the cost.

there is nothing better than having the full car there to rip bits off, puma's with a bit of rot can be had for a few hundred quid now and you will have everything you want bang for Ł there probably is no better conversion

We had one at the start of the year, wanted ÂŁ120. Nothing but skint messers. In the end we filled it with scrap and weighed it in for ÂŁ62

As has already been said really its best to buy a complete car. I think the only other thing to mention its probably a good idea to get of a donar car with same odometer as yours due to being easier to wire up.
