Question 02 Fiesta Flight MK5 Key Info

The girlfriend has just bought the above car, but it only has 1 key.

the key she's got (getting) is just a manual key.

does this car have remote locking?

if it does or not, she'll need another key anyway, what kind of price am I looking at?

Not remote no, just central locking by the key.

As said about its only got central locking not remote central locking. Fiesta flight was just a low spec fiesta just with a few other things on it.

As already said, your not looking at much for the key but it will then need programming, this is something you can usually do yourself.

I have done one on here before (Focus) it may well be different to your car though, if you look in your handbook you should find the procedure there. It goes something like you turn the ignition on and off around 7 times IIRC, this then initializes "Learning Mode" where you then put your new key in and turn ignition on. If you get stuck let us know.

Don't you need 2 keys to program a new one? Or is this Ford bullshit?

Yes you need a paired key to initialize learning mode, older systems had what was known as a "Master Key" which was red, you used this to program additional keys.

Nope the key you have at the moment will be black and will have most likely a blue transponder in the top of the key, this is the key you need to initiaze "Learning Mode" this in turn will allow the car to learn your new key, you need a paired key otherwise people could just come along and program new keys and steal your car

The red master key I was talking about is for older PATS systems found on older Fords, just saying out of interest nothing to do with yours

I've got an 01 zetec s, and only the one key, a remote central locking key. Would I be able to program a key from this? Or have I gotta pay £140 for Ford to re-program it for me? Sorry for stealing your topic lol.
