I paid a bit more than that 9 years ago though it included doors. Finally registered the car this summer!

whats going on 'ere then, a post about 4's and no one invited me, Steve break out the pringles, we need to find out if ther's a YB lurking around to go in it

Nowadays finding the shells is the hard part. They are now worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. you could get (if it was for sale ofcourse) Ł500 but if someone really wants it it could reach a grand.

Is it the Mk1 XR4x4 one Simpsons had stacked up with their other shells, think they wanted Ł400 plus vat

Ideal just for the front end panels, floor and roof skin for a 3dr

Until I saw that I would have been willing to bet that mine was the last.

Don't know how you would tell if it was one of the last 7 produced, though, because it doesn't have a number on it.

if someone wanted to , would those rear quarter windows be able to be cut out to resemble a 3dr rear quarter window?

SACRILEGE!!!!

It could be done, but then the spirit of the dead XR4i would haunt the car forever.

It's a lot of work because the resulting holes in top and bottom of the window frame will need made good and flange formed, and the trailing edge of the windows are a different shape.

And I don't think the common or standard three door shape looks better than the unique and rare 6-lite shell.

its strange that the cosworth used the L shell not the XR. imo the L looks better but the xr shell is more ridgid.
could have been because the whale tale and the pillar made rear viability poor.

Hi mate an old post but had quick question. I have been offered a 1986 Sierra 5 door shell xr4x4. It's a mint shell now I have s rotten saph cosworth. Is the running gear mounting points all the same? I.e could I transfer all my cosworth running gear to a xr4x4 shell?

The mounting points are the same, but things like the boot are obvious, the wiring etc will be different

So if it's a complete reshell then no bother but swapping bits about not so straightforward

Best case scenario is an 89 saph, a 92 one will be much harded
