Default Classic Ford Show Santa Pod.

Anyone going to Classic Ford show on Sunday? I love all the old school Fords and seeing them go up the strip. Hopefully this year they will be stricter and only let in pre 1990 Fords.

not happening mate as restrictions now include up to 2002, 15yrs so now the focus and puma mondeo etc are now considered classics by money grabbing kelsey media , I own a focus but dont want to see one at a classic ford show its bad enough ford fair has become focus fest, this is one of the reasons all kelsey media run shows have been blackballed by me for 2017

I didnt realise that, no dis-respect to Focus owners but I hope its not filled up with 20 or more Focus STs/RSs all the same all lined up next to each other like there seems to be at most shows now. I want to see plenty of Escort mk 1 and 2,RST, Cortina mk1 and 2, Capri mk1 and 2, Anglias, Prefects, Granadas , Consul Classic, Zephyrs etc as to me they are proper classic Fords. Hopefully there will also be some other Saffs and 3 doors! I will let you know on Monday how it went.

I own a few STs myself so disrespect taken but they are a long way from being classed as a classic and I dont want to see them at a classic show thats for sure no matter how much money has been spent on one, its like concours shows how the hell can you compare a 2016 frs against a 1970s mk1 escort its bonkers

not going to bother this year myself, its too much like all the other big ford shows with piss takers rocking up in cars that are far too new for a classic ford show, no doubt there'll be a few mk3 frs' this time as well

Just got back from "Classic" Ford show. That title should be scrapped as it was just a "bring any Ford no matter how new it is as it will be ok" 2106 Mustangs,5/6/7 year old FRS and Fiestas and of course 20+ blue FRS all next to each other. No one seemed to bat an eyelid when they came in and parked up.Thankfully there were still plenty of proper classic Fords to look at and watch tearing up the strip. There was a red Escort estate that was doing low 10 second runs!!

4x4 Saff Cosworth Police car.

Nice Cossie conversion in a Mk1 Cortina.

Couple of chaps I knew went with a 57 anglia and a 67 mustang but said the same as you , plenty of nice cars there but the money grabbing ways of kelsey media letting in allsorts of newer cars spoils the quality of content of the show as every space taken by a modern car pushes a true classic out from attending

Thing is every year there are newly restored old classics so not really just the same old cars. It is supposed to be about Ford classics which for me does not include FRS and ST cars and new Mustangs.
I agree that Rally Day at Castle Comb is the most interesting show where you can see most of the classic rally cars on show and on track.

I went today. Some good stuff. The rs1700 and rs200 being highlights with the rs1700 a real rarity. I am told it is the only genuine one currently in the UK.
Really liked the series 1 escort rs turbo with the cossie 4x4 conversion that was for sale. Looked pretty sweet to me. If it's someone on here good luck with the sale
Some good strip action and always interesting watching a good variety go up the strip.

It's not just Classic Ford tho, the Ford scene in general has become too money orientated especially over the last few years, the cars, parts and general admission to the shows have become too expensive now which does spoil the enjoyment of it all

If I had a spare Ł22000 I would love that Cossie 4x4 converted Escort RS Turbo! 450 bhp as well, must be an animal to drive!! It was parked up not far from me first thing in the morning, its had a lot of work done to it and I reckon it will sell pretty quickly.
Right next to me were 2 guys that had bought their Mk1 Fiesta all the way from Italy!! They said it was their first time at the show and were loving it.
Did you see some of the prices that were being asked for what looked like rubbish to me. Ł300 for seats that were falling apart etc!
There were some bloody quick old escorts etc going up the strip and also a fair few cars out for a quiet Sunday drive up the strip with blistering 22 second quarters etc!

Therr are a few RS1700s in the country. Malcom wilson has one. It might be the only genuine rally car.

Yerp the price of parts is pissing me off too. I wonder what the price of other car makes parts are like for prices.

Possibly I do not know. I am told the owner refused an offer from Ford of half a mil to buy it back. A number of famous drivers had driven it with various signatures on the roof.
Looks much better in real life than in pictures. Very cool car.

I'm going next year without fail. I hate to miss this show and have missed it 2 years on the trot now. Dosent bother me anymore about the newer fords as you can just walk past them
Onto stuff you want to look at I suppose. I expect there's not enough classic fords left that people actually drive to make these big shows financially viable to I imagine they have to
Let all the "new kids " in which probably helps pay for the shows and keeps it going. Gone are the days when these classic fords were so affordable by anyone and the parts were cheap so we're going to see a massive decline in old
Stuff attending, and also there isn't many left as most have rotted away or broken up for parts when they weren't worth a lot.

Thankfully yesterday the vast majority of cars were true classic Fords. There was just about all the 50s 60s 70s and 80s Ford models on display which was great.I ignored the newer cars as they have nothing about them which interests me.
