Guests
Chris Williams - 24 Litre Napier Bentley
What happens when you put a 24 litre engine from a Napier Sea Lion aeroplane in a 1928 8 Litre Bentley Chassis?
This is a car so unique and unusual it has its own wikipedia entry check it out for all the details. Or just repeatedly watch the video above!
Alan Thomas - Nissan Skyline KPGC10 GTR
Here is another special treat for visitors to The Gathering this year, a car that is unique in Europe, in fact it is one of only two genuine GT R Coupes outside of Japan. Without a doubt this is one of the best looking racing cars in the world, it will both looks and sound great as it heads up the hill. The brilliant soundtrack is courtesy of the all important S20 engine, a straight 6, dual overhead cam, crossflow head with four valves per cylinder as designed by Prince Motor Company engineers before the Nissan take over. Alan himself is hugely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this car and is certainly one of the foremost English speaking authorities one these cars.
Jeffry Sol - Audi Sports Quattro Monster!
There is something in the water in Europe, it seems to be concentrated in Scandinavian countries but some of it must be leaking into the Netherlands. The thing is those in the North seem to like big power, anything less than 600bhp seems to be small fry. What we have here is an Audi Sports Quattro recreation with over 800bhp. Let me run that by you again, just in case you missed it first time. Jeffry Sol has built an 800bhp Audi sports quattro beast, and he'll be coming to the Retro Rides Gathering to take it up our hill. Don't miss this! As Doctor Who once advised, Don't Blink!! ... More photos and videos can be found on Jeffry's website. Make sure you are at the show to check this out!
Michael Flynn - KAMEI Mk1 Golf Race Car Recreation
One of the most iconic Golf racers ever created the KAMEI Golf was campaigned in the lat 70's and always looked great on the track. The design on the car has inspired Tamiya model kits as well as slot cars. Michael has done some massively detailed research into the car, unearthing along the way never before shared pictures of the car from those that original built and raced it. His labour of love has resulted in this brilliant recreation.
John Beardmore - Hillclimb Morris Minor
It has been a while since we've been able to welcome John and his car along to a Retro Rides event, but we've pinned him down this year and his is bringing his fabulous Moris Minor hillclimb car out to show us just how to do it at Prescott. One of the most legendary UK modified car builders John has provided the whole community with a lot of insipration over the years and his race car is no exception.
More guests will be announced soon...
Club Space
As ever Retro Rides Gathering welcomes car clubs from all makes and styles. Our club space in the Orchard at Prescott is one of the nicest places to be on the car show calendar, with suitable amounts of space given to club stands, you can still see whats going on track side, everything is close by. Booking space is easy, simply email gathering@retro-rides.org with the club name, number of cars and an address to send the passes to. The passes get your cars into the Orchard and directed to the correct stand space, then your members just need to sort out their entry tickets. If you have a club that the majority of which is likely to spend most of the day on the track we can offer you club space in the paddock, so tell us if this is the case.
RWYB Hillclimb
One of the highlights of The Gathering the RWYB Hillclimb, see all sorts of machinery heading up the hill, from out and out race cars to our friend Kev and his diesel powered pickup truck. To get on the track you just need to be in the show ground (as part of a club stand or in the retro parking), bring your MOT*, your insurance and your drivers license, you don't need a helmet or a racing license. We are running two sessions, the morning session will cost £30, the afternoon session will cost £20. Entry is booked on the day, so get there early as it will sell out.
*If you have a track only car with no MOT please email us before the show so we know you are coming and we can get our track guys to scrutineer your car.
Trading
