aircon delete?

personally i'd want aircon ona track car, now sweating and being comfortable would probably shave more off my lap times than 5kg and 0.5bhp would

ok slight problem, tried using the brakes the other night at 5th gear speeds and got a noticeable ammount of judder, methinks they won't be much fun on a trackday and i cant afford to cach out the money on some proper discs & pads before the end of the week... doh!

Im off to the garage in a minute to put the final bits back together and fire up for the first time in a long while. Then its round the block and check fluids and for leaks then done. Not going to fit the r888s till i get there other wise could tempt fate with rain lol.
Praying for dry conditions to try 888s out

Just some small minor stuff to do on my trackcars before weekend

Westfield. Currently at Reyland HQ
New engine built from scratch. longer rods, ported head, forged pistons, soild lifters etc etc. Gonna be a PROPER THING. Can Martin get it built and installed and mapped in a week? He has a bet with Sean that he can!
Planning to run it in just driving it slowly around Bedford in the morning!!!

Lotus Exige. Currently at JSR

New discs and pads front and rear. new tyres. Uprated engine mounts and uprated clutch and rollbars. All being done by Seans and johns company JSR !

Clio172cup. Currently at Jamsport
Just a complete Reshell and rebuild... all being done Jamsport!

GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!

massive massive thanks to Martoon for taking on the challenge. Thanks mate

Thanks to John for driving down to collect the Lotus and take it from Bedford!

P.S Back up plan is to bring the M3 and mince about racing Pon all day in our matching gay mobiles!

Another cheap week for me

Did a quick engine freshen up on my corsa this week, new set of rings and a new head gasket etc, only problem I have now is that I have to run it in before the trackday on saturday, but im working in london till friday and the car is in somerset, so basically i'm going to have to just run it in driving to the track, and then change the running in oil over to proper stuff when I get there and hope everything has worked.

Also, the mrs is taking my clio to the same trackday, and Ive not mapped that yet since making the new inlet, have only had a chance to do a quick literally ten minutes base map on it as my week off work to sort the cars got cancelled and I only ended up with one day and a couple of evenings off to do the lot (including finishing off the inlet and doing the engine rebuild on the corsa), so she'll have to try and spot any issues on the wideband on the way up while she is driving and then let me know where its not right and I'll go out with her and map it the night before the trackday after ive done the oil change on the corsa.

Last minute motorsport!

chip thanks for the offer mate, but i dont want to owe people money again

remember how much of a drama it was just getting 100quid off the the other month? and that was money i actually had!

it does look lik i cant get a refund tho, MSV might re-sell the place if they get fully booked but even then they'll only give me a credit on my next purchase minus a decent fee... doh!

Its a pain the cancelation policy being like that, but I can see why it is.

TBH if I had known I wasnt going to have last week off work, I would have cancelled one place so that me and the mrs shared a car rather than spread myself so thin trying to get two ready but by the time I knew my leave needed to be cancelled I was past 14 days too

Can you not take the car and just use your brakes less and the gears to slow down more? when I drove your old M3 I was much less agressive on the brakes than you and still had a good time and made reasonable progress etc.

Come along anyway and steal other peoples cars to use Jim, you may as well seeing as you have paid
Plus try just some new standard disks in the meantime, main problem with yours is probably age!

I love pre-trackday banter, genuinely PMSL @ some of the comments.

I'll have to try and organise my next trip to Bedford to visit friends around the same time as one of these days and come along... is it the same track as they use on Palmersport days?? IIRC the one with the Palmer Jaguars was pretty good fun.

Cheers,
Grant

They run 5 circuits on a palmersport day.

On a trackday they link up many of the smaller circuits and run a much longer track...

normally the Granturismo circuit. Or the West circuit.

The track you used the Jags on is part of most circuits they use for trackdays

only EVER been there once when it wasn't... and that was because Roman Abramovich's 15 year old son had the entire west circuit to himself!!!

he had some AWESOME cars there including a nutty Gemballa Cayenne and a ferrari 430 challenge car on slicks. he arrived and departed on a HUGE helicopter and had some PROPER security as well!

lucky kid

Yea sounds like a very lucky wee lad, imagine having the keys to a Porsche Turbo and a Fezza 430 at the same time Lee...

I liked that track (and the Jag), IIRC it was roughly the same one they used for the VX220 Turbo later on in the day too.. all I remember from the Vaux drive was blasting up the long back straight, diving into the left hander at a fair rate of knots, bit of a slide from the back end, bit of correction from me..... hello tank slapper, spin, spin, spin.

Cheers,
Grant
