right not been online for a while due to breaking my pc but now at last the insuance company got it back to me all fixed.
anyhow, not gunna do too big write up, the following pic's are of work so far, there is more done than what the pic's show but i run up the memory card in my mobile and could download it till i got my pc back, so more pic's to be added within the next few days.
im hoping to have it driveable soon, it only really needs a days work on it if that to have it drivable but my wifes just had our 4th child so time isnt with me, but im hoping for it to be this weekend and then run it down for a mot within the following 2 weeks, but we're wait and see for that.
as your see my nipper wanted to help 1 day so i gave him a little job, it lasted 2 minutes before he got bored and focked off
second pic down is off the front shock thrust bearings, i decided to renew these after i fitted the shocks, lol, but it was a easy job anyway.
the red pipe is hard vac pipe, i borrowed from a place i used to work from
also for those of you that spot the tap in the block, its not cause the thread had had it, i was cleaning the threads out
last pic shows my dad welding the filler repair panel in, the pattern part one was focking dog $hit so went to scrappy and found a diesel mk3 fiesta and the panel was sopt on apart from a tiny dent on the corner, soon cut that off and got it home, not bad for a fiver, and best of it was that once the panel was off the dent was knocked out real easy
i painted the inside of it with a oil based paint to added protection, hence why its black on the inside, then once welded on i sealed it from the inner arch side (where the filler neck comes up) and blasted the inside and round where the welds have gone with loads and i mean loads of that wax, so it wont be rusting out in a hurry thats for sure.
gotta say, top work to my dad, without him i would be a stuck.
as said, not got a pic of it welded in as i ran out of space on my phone but i'll get one to put up
i also sorted the wiring, i had a issue with the wiring to the spot lights, when i was 18 i cut the plugs off to fit the spots that are in the cossie bumper, young and dumb i guess as ive now replaced it with new stuff, well s/h wiring that i got from a guy on here, sorry cant remember the name of the guy now but he chopped off the wiring that went down the drivers side inner arch for me and i brought it from him and cut mine out and replaced it all and finished wrapping the loom.

cheers guys.
unfortunatly i think its way to cold for painting now, but if i can get the paint and some heaters i will make up a make shift spray booth in my uncles work shop and stick the car and heaters in there and see if i can get the car and the area warm enough for painting, if i can fast thinkers and fast hardner will be got and the job done.
if not, then the car goes under wraps in a grage till its warm enough, or i have the money to pay someone with a oven to paint it
anyhow im out my parnets today so i'll get some updated pic's and if its not raining, do a little more to it too.
oh had a phone call from fords at 8.40 this morning, them loom clips that i ordered have come in. not bad seeing as i ordered them about 3.30pm yesterday

that right mate, and with these roads on the isle of wight, bottom and mid range speed is what i want
plus fitting a T3 take it away from being a FRST in my eyes.
plus the different 3rd gear i have fitted in the box makes it pull like a train

cheers dude.
yeah its been hard, but what has made it harded is the fact ive had to do it at my parents place and outside.
i dont really recommend doing something like this out side to anyone really cos its a nightmare, limited because of weather, having to pack all tool away when ya done, unload them when ya wanna start etc etc, then i had to sell the escort so i didnt have a car my self (just the wifes) but i now got a little 1.3 lx fez to roll around in (which cost the same to insure as the 3i!!)
but still, ive enjoyed it and will be glad when shes on the road again

went out parent place again to do some bits, but first i had to take a look at the fiesta lx that im using as a run around as it was making some weird noises but thats all fixed now
anyhow, biggest thing that can be seen (and was a focker) is the exhaust is back on.
i took it off in 2 parts but had to break it down into the 3 parts to fit it again and them powerflex exhaust rubbers are a waste of space, focking things have like these O rings in them which catch the arm when your trying to slide it in oh the fun, no matter its all on there now, apart from the 2 U brackets, this is back 1 is rusty and the other wore away so much a small bump in the road saw it tear off and slide down the road and i never replaced it (all that time ago )
shame the exhaust is manky looking, lets it down, but then again its over 5 years old now
cleaned and fitted alternator and starter motor, i also painted the starter motor as it was a bit of a let down, it dont look real good now-ish but it looks a lot better than it did
done some other little odds and sods also.
few random pics,
the old clamp, (still got pics in my photo bucket)

been out to the car again today, done mainly little bits tbh, replaced the 8mm head thermostat bolts with proper 10mm stainless jobies as i dont like the 8mm head ones fords do now.
put the heater cover on, wipers back in, back plate, etc see for ya self.
i had a issue with the main water pipe, it tends to slip between the cam cover and the inner wing, and it rubs, never have liked it but till now not got round to doing anything with it.
in amounst my tool boxes and robbers box (box of odds and sods) i came up with a little plastic clip, and a hose clip.
the hose clip was a spare that norm bolts on the gearbox and holds the large pipe to the thermostat housing (you know the one) so i cut and trimmed it and the plastic clip fitted the hole perfect
doesnt look professional i know but it does the job and thats what matters.
rest are just a few pics i took before wrapping her back up till tomorrow.

btw, the standard sturt tops are not staying, i have stainless ones to fit, but the stainless ones are more of a cover rather than a replacment

right was out there yesterday working on the car again, i knew i wouldnt get much done as it was intercooler time, and my pace intercooler needed modding as i didnt like the fit of it before.
as your see from the pics below, a old outer window seal was used on the lip of the front panel to provide some protection to the rad as well as the panel it self.
next up i done what i could to try and get the rad back into the postion its in as standard but the ideas i had cant be played out as the front lower valance isnt on yet so i dropped that idea as there is only i reckon a 25% chance what i had in mind would work but no matter, i stuck what the rad being moved again, not to happy about that because i cant really use the red samco top hose as the inch of so the rad is back makes the pipe start to kink and im not having that, so a standard top rad hose cut shorter (due to splits in the past ) was just the job so that will stay for now as i dont really want to cut the samco top hose, but ill look out for a s/h red samco top hose which i will cut down .
anyway back to the cooler, because the angle of the top boost pipe that comes out is too low, it caused the boost pipe to rub the top rad hose, not good and untill now i had a old bit of pipe wrapped round the rad hose to protect it.
but this time im not having that, ive cut the pipe in the intercooler and bent it up to the postion it should be with the cooler where i want it, i noted the angle and when i got home i cut the pipe off and angled it etc and will be taking it to a place in the morning to have a price on welding it, over the phone he said about a tenner but we're see, but he pretty good, i reckon tops Ł15.
your also see that ive glued some rubber to the side of the cooler also, this is to protect the front panel from the movment the cooler, which it will prob do, i did make a nice bracket to support the bottom of the cooler but i had problems fitting and removing the cooler with the bracket in place, and once the front valance goes on it might be near impossible so i dropped that idea and just fitted a rubber mount for it to rest on at the egde, and it makes it easy to get it in and out, but doesn't support as good as the bracket.
but it will be bolted from the top with a new mounting im fitting, this mounting is gunna be stainless steel glued on with focking strong glue as alloy doesnt like movent and cracks or breaks off, like the old ones did, so fingers crossed no probs there.
once the cooler is on though i will be making a bracket that fits to the rad and will fit to the cooler for added support but once its on and piped up i'll see what movment there is as it might not need it.
i also got some stainless bolts for my heat shield and charge pipe, oh and to replace the fixings on the rad.
right im gunna stop going on now, heres the pics of the most little amount of work down in a day well there was a lot of messing about
you can see that the angle on the pace cooler is too low and the boost pipe touches the top rad hose, this is why i had to cut the cooler pipe and find the best angle for it. it will be welded at the angle i want, at the bottom your see the pipes cut ready for welding.
