Right,after much thinking,and calculating how much i could get for it in bits i,ve decided to KEEP IT..............For now..But with a few changes..

Have decided to go E.F.I. Am trying to get hold of a cheap FIESTA XR2i to help with the conversion. IF AT FIRST YOU DON,T SUCEED................THROW SOME MORE MONEY AT IT

Small up date,Sorted all the bits on the M.O.T faliure sheet.Except the binding rear calipers.Tried everything but still no good.So purchased these .

Have fitted them for now without PAINT & DECALS.Will do that after it,s past M.O.T and is up and running.

Bled the brakes and took it for a quick spin.All was fine until i booted it and found out i only had 4 P.S.I of BOOST

So decided to investigate,and now looks like this.

Had a look and the news is not good.STAGE 2 TURBO well and truly F*CKED.

Now need to source a NEW TURBO.Glad i decided to keep it now.

Not sure what caused it,looks like the shaft has come loose or bearing faluire and chewed the turbine up.Have had to cancel the COMPOMOTIVE ALLOYS for now and concentrated on getting it up and running.Progress will be halted for a few weeks until iv,e saved for another TURBO.

As TWINS has said,owning these kind of cars is never going to be STRESS FREE.

Well,has been 10 months since my last update.The wife had our first baby last AUGUST so my money and time has been else where.

Any way am trying to get it back on the road in time for FORD FAIR.
This is what greeted my when i opened the garage 2 weeks ago

Just as i left it.As you may know my TURBO was well and truly f*cked.Decided to strip it down to see the damage.

So purchased this STAGE 3 HYBRID T3 off E-BAY.

Pulled the covers off to check it,s still there.

Then it was time to fit new turbo.

A few other changes as well.Last year i said i was going to convert to E.F.I. Well i've decided against that and instead gone for a new group a coil and an original airbox(drilled with a K&N panel filter)
Have also removed the chavvy dump valve.I believe the car will run better with these mods.

All fitted back together ready for starting.

As it,s been standing for so long i thought i'd change all the filters and the oil.

Then it was ready for start.Charged the battery and turned the key.

It started ,but ran shit then spluttered and died.

Checked for air leaks e.c.t ,still would,nt start.
so changed the metering head as i was getting no fuel to the injectors.

STILL WOULDN'T START!!!!!

So thought i'd get it set up properly and booked it in for a set up on the rollers at JAMSPORT.

So borrowed the truck from work and started the 140 mile round trip.

Once it was on the rollers we soon discovered it was way out of tune(very rich ) After about an hour messing with it trying to get it right,he discovered a misfire top end.
No matter what he tried(changing leads,dizzy,plugs,coil e.c.t.It wouldn,t go.So had to leave it with him for the week.

Got a call from him a few days later and was told it was all done.

I also asked him to put it through an M.O.T as well.

Went and collected it and WOW!!!!!!

210 b.h.p and shit does it feel quick.

Not only had it PASSED the m.o.t but it was running sweet as a nut
I can honestly say that in the 7 years iv'e owned it ,it has never ran better.Starts first turn of the key every time.

Turns out it was a dodgy fuel pump,so it's now has an uprated cossie pump on.

The old pump had only done 50 miles.

Have a few jobs to do before FORD FAIR.I,m not going to have time to fit my FOCUS RS BREMBO brake conversion before then,but the other jobs will hopefuly be done in time.

First on the agenda is painting the boot floor.This needs doing because when i welded in the new chassis rails the boot floor was marked and also new fuel pump carrier mountings are sealed in the spare wheel well.

As it stopped raining and looked like it would be sunny all day

Stripped all carpet out and sanded down surface rust.

Then mask up boot area






Then used ETCH PRIMER on the bare metal bits.

Then after fitting a sound deadner pad i put on a quick fill primer layer.
