ok, mould was ready to crack out this morning the return flanges came straight off easy

but the main bumper was a compleate and utter t##t . took me half an hour of tapping and pulling to get the fooker out the tool
but got there in the end (slightly damaged the master in the process but it was shit anyway so who cares )

whilst the tool was in bits i just sand the sharp edges down where the two parts of the tool bolt together, this means that when i gell it up it will leave a positive flashline in the new bumper that can be sanded down as oppose to a negative flash line that needs filling.
anyway, all gelled up and ready for some mat, may have time to do it later tonight. just got to make the two little boxes that bond on the back to mount it to the car then.
p.s fudgeass, this ones gunna be yours as i fooked the one you lent me. but you can have that one back as well, someone on ebay will buy it for £30

ok time for an update

finished laying up the bumper. forgot to take any pics of the final thing before i gave it to fugeass so fuge, if you feel like donating a pic to this thread please do
heres a few quick pics of how i did the mounts on the back of it,

made some bigheads for the mounts

superglued the side ones in place and glued the main mounts down onto a block of blue foan to space it off te bumper face. (if you use foam make sure you seal it with pva or something as it will react with resin)

job done

made a strat on the gearbox this weekend. im building a hybrid mt75 for it. need to rebuild the boxes though as i need the bellhousing section from a xr4x4 mt75 so it fits the engine, but need the 2wd back half from a late spec sierra.

first job was to make some special ford tools that i couldnt be arsed to buy
one long reach 26mm socket made from a normal socket i cut in half and a bit of cosworth propshaft

did the job nicley on the main shaft nut

theres the 2wd mt75

and the 4x4 one in bits

quite nice to see the front casings are exaclty the same other than the bellhousings

this kinda ground to a hault when i noticed the mainshaft was shorter on the 2wd item
with some help from bernie ive found out i need to use the whole gearset from the 4x4 box and just change the main shaft round. oh fun

oh got this coming from tim finch though

thats the job for next weekend, then get it all ready to spray inside

heres a copy and paste from my resto thread mate, i dont blame you for the cack fit, its the shoddy originals fault

just attached at the front

niiiice big side gaps

i manged to get the n/s on, but not the o/s as i couldnt be arsed to get even more soaked by lying under the car with a drill lol

im loving the selotaped on indicators

rear bumper and RS500 spoiler on

overall shot with the bonnet on too.

cant believe how oversize it is, this is technically not possible as fibreglass shrinks not enlarges

can you not pull it up tight with the bolts on the side?

may have another go when its dry tho.

ok quick update on stuff done on sat.

assembeld the gearbox. choose to go abput it a different way than normal (mainly as i dont have a press to swap the gearset over) this may work ok or it may be utter shite

basically im using the 2ltr gearset with the shorter mainshaft so i get the lower ratios. ive made up an extension lug for the mainshaft so it reaches the spigot bearing on the back of the crank. this was made to very tight tollorence and was sweated onto the shaft to ensure it is both true and that it wount move,

also got the rollcage loosly fitted in. just need to get some sheet steel and some tube to make some extra brackets and also a lower front and rear brace

didnt think the front strut brace would fit withthis engine..but it does just got about 8mm cleance off the rocker covers. lol

also made a start on my perspex windows. using 2mm its like paper...but light. lol
going to key them up and bond them in as oppose to rivits as its so thin i think rivits will just crack the shit out of it

Looking good

So you got the Cage. I was after some pics of the turret mount for the rear as my 3door is going to be fitted with a 6 point cage soon.

Need to get my arse in gear with converting my mt75 too. I'll be using the Diesel box though. I hope to get some pics up soon

ok, been a while as ive been mega busy at work managed to get down the unit this weekend and do some work on her

got all the cage in propperly with all the mounting plates made and welded up took a fookin age to get the bulkhead bars cut and installed

going to buy some cds tube this week so i can weld in a rear strut brace and one across the bulkhead.

also got the front suspension trial fitted using the granada cosworth 5 stud hubs with 4x4 cosworth shocks and springs and top hats cobled together from both the spring locator from the granada and top part from the xr4. car looks quite cool at the mo with the low front and standard ride height rear. dragster style. lol

job this week is get some paint for doing the inside of the car next week. also to get my loom off to mark so he can do that for me

the only problem you are going to have with the front struts is that there might not be enough thread left over on the granada struts
if there is you are laughing, but they are a bit shorter than the sierra ones (as i've found when i was doing my 5 stud thing early last year) but it all depends on the sizes of the tops you have used

but, other than that, it looks like you have put a TON of work into it and it's looking sweet

one more thing, if you are going to use the granada struts you'll find that they give you about an inch more clearnace than the sierra ones
