Zetec turbs track car fiesta.
Just thought I'd start a thread about me and my mates co owned track car fezza.
We did bedford in november 2003 with the 1.6 t3'd lump and were well impressed with how well it went. Unfortunatly we blew it up on a hot day the following summer!
Anyway I was breaking my zetec turbo cabby and decided I'd keep the engine and a few other bits n bobs for the fiesta.
I got in touch with Ian Howell about rebuilding the zetec properly as I didnt trust Mark the cockend at BSW's competence. I was right to do that cus the build was wank.
Anyway, Ian's rebuilt the engine with pukka pistons and steel rods. For now it'll run on greens with a stage 2 T3, and DTA management. Were just waiting for it to go on the dyno at SCS where Mr Bayjoo will be mapping it. Been waitin a bloody long time tho!
I picked up a pro alloy rad and cooler at national day, cheers Wayne. that we'll be fitting as soon as the lumps in.
Suspension wise we've got Gaz coilovers and will be gettin various goodies from Brom at Zoo motorsport, rose jointed wish bones, rear beam etc....
Brakes are cossie items for now. We've got three sets of 15" wheels but now weve got coilovers we might get some bigger wheels and get some funky brakes behind em.
Long list of things we need to finish, but the main ones are cage and slicks.
Took a few pics today, not the best cus theres not much room to move.
I'll update when we bolt some more stuff on!

Hey hey Jim! Very glad to hear the cabby's engine didn't go to waste, I really liked that car Just slap it all together for now with the Cossie brakes and 15s etc....it's a track car, and it's a Fiesta, which means it's no biggy to add bits as you go along Get it ready to go then slap new stuff on in-between track days What's with the console, air vents and glove dr? All that weight! Will try to remember to keep an eye on this, engine should be a beauty...will be a nutty track car! What sump are you using?

At last theres an engine bolted in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a bit of a nightmare gettin it all done. DTA was binned for pectel T2. Engine was dynod at Harvey Gibbs by Ahmed, but the turbo I had only had a .36 exhaust housing so isnt really up to the job and now theres loads of end float. Made about 270bhp on the ickle turbo tho, so when a T34's bolted on we should get good power from it.
Thrown a standardish T3 on for now as cash has run low and were not spendin any more this year.
Just needs a pully makin up to pick up the alternator and water pump and loom a fuel pump and regulator now and were off.
Found out that cocksucker from BSW must have give me a second hand paddle clutch for the price of a new un cus its virtually dead and done no miles.
Not much room for the pulley in a festa!
Nor the downpipe.
Hopin to have it ready for Bedford in Feb.

SHES ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had the car trailered to a garage to have the remaing bits done as we we have hardly any spare time to work on it, only a few hours on a sunday and it just wasnt getting done.
Anyway, got ripped of again by a garage on labour charges and some of the work is shody and amatuerish, but I cant be arsed to go into to much detail. Only that we travelled a long way in a 55mph transporter to fetch a car that wasnt finished!!! Fuel pump wouldnt stay on.
Had the chance to look today and sorted in 10 mins! Dodgy earthing.
It runs, sounds like a fookin jet fighter, and feels like its gonna be rapid!!
Only took it round the private estate cus its not road legal, just to check all the gears were theres, noises leaks etc... Nearly made an old couple jump into a ditch from the noise! Missed the chatter soooooo much!!
100 times happier today than when I got a non runner home last night!
Looks like we'll deffo make it to Bedford this year!
Managed to win a multipoint weld in cage of flee-bay last week aswell.
Finally coming together after all this time! Been a stressfull project and bloody expensive.
Big thanks to Ian Howell at fiesta frenzy / Area - six for the build, parts and countless telephone conversations!! Ahmed and Harvey for the dyno and mapping and my mate Gav whos done loads of spannering on bits we were unsure of.
I'd recommend Ian to anyone thinking of building a zetec turbo. I'll post more once we've used the car in anger.
Few crappy camera phone pics below. Will get better ones next sunday.
Diagram of the cage.

Oh, forgot to mention the bloke who did my loom for the pectel T2. Cant fault it at all, infact I dont think it could be much better.
PM me for his number if anyone wants a loom for their fiesta on Pectel.

Whatever is useable!!!
Couldnt have been running more than 8psi today and its a handfull! One slight touch of the throttle and it goes mad!
We wont run more power than is necersary. Not interested in figures as long as it goes like fook.
I dont know how people can run these on the road! There lethal.

Sounds very good Mr Brasso!! Streetdragster's made 213bhp at 8psi I seem to recall, who knows what your specs are like in comparison though? Just an idea They are superb fun on the road matey, wouldn't have any other engine! Looks good too, will be a hoot on the track!!

Cheers lads. The noises it makes make me fookin grin!!!
Bit worried about how were gonna use the power tho cus it just lights the wheels up too easy. Roads are a bit greasy at the mo and tracking is out etc....
Hoping to go and do some testing at Donny next sunday if we can sort a few niggles out.
Couple more camera pics today with the unfinished bumper on.

Quick update.
Went to Donny in it last weekend. Was very quick in a straight line but we've got some work to do to make it go round and power out of corners! Was nice to know it hammers past things like, Civic type R's, Clio 182, RX8, new Saab turbo, Scooby, westy type things etc.....
Need to get the cage in, rose jointed lower arms, quaiffe diff, slicks, better breather, oil cooler and a couple more gauges and were there!
Have some newer better pics.

Got the oil cooler mounted today aswell as an adapted escos breather system.
Gauges mounted, not pretty but functional and easy to take out to alter/add to.
Got some nice slicks to go on for bedford next week.

Just a quick update.
Did an open pit lane track day at Donny on monday and it was awesome.
Surprised a few Exiges, 200sx's and caterhams etc...
Cant wait to get the sump baffled and try the slicks out. Handling wasnt as bad this time with different settings but its still far from perfect. Keeping with Exiges on the corners tho so not too shabby.
Gonna try and get on track at national day this year and see how we fare against some other Fords.
