Righto - sadly a no pictures update
But:
AEM ECU and full wiring loom has now arrived and is sat at my local FedEx depot awaiting collection
Block is now machined, crank nitrided, polished and balanced - all awaiting collection too!
Dug out my other various engine bits and they're going off for hot acid dipping to clean them up and the sump is going off for powder coating.
Ian Howell has sorted me my replacement rings and circlips after the last set went 'walkies'
Piper should be getting me my reprofiled cams, vernier pulleys, valve springs and retainers posted back to me shortly and then its engine build time

Few pics for you
AEM ECU arrived:
Quick screen dump of the interface:
Also bought the AEM race wiring loom:
Fortunately every wire is printed with identification to try and minimise mix ups!
Also comes with appropriate bits to tidy it all up at the end:
I've also been fortunate enough to be invited to help strip an old race car and the freedom to remove some useful bits - god love mates in great places
Looks like a full motorsport spec loom is on the cards now

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Mil-spec connectors are very good and come in a good range of size, we use these on all our race cars
Look forward to seeing the build pics / write up s Will

I spent 4 months building looms at Honda Racing F1 so they're nothing new to me.
Just can't believe the price of the tooling to repin them

Looking very good Will!
You have got me very worried LOL!!
What are you doing cage wise and suspension?
Keep the updates coming fella, looks like working where you do helps alot!
Cant seem to get my boss interested in turbos, he is far more interested in how my construction projects are running!

NEEDFORSPEED
When i do my dummy engine build i'll start with the engine loom - problem will come from the fact that i wanted to a fully detachable engine loom from the bulkhead and i've just realised the AEM loom runs an external shielding

Rightio, had a couple of boxes delivered yesterday...
One from Piper who i have to say a big thankyou to - Garry was very helpful and was more than happy to discuss my ideas and options
So...
Piper Cam, Piper Valve Springs, Piper Retainers and Piper Verniers
And...
ANOTHER RS Turbo loom
Will be chopping about with this to get all my indicators, brake lights etc. etc.

Yeah Inlet cam there mate
It should drive like a 2.0 Zetec up to 3000, start being spritely up to around 4000 where it should be doing full boost and hold that through to 8000rpm.
Possibly a bit more on top speed runs.
I'm only on single valve springs as i've spent enough on the head already - don't want to get into machining and oversize buckets.
I'll go as far as i can before i get valve bounce basically

Not really power as such that dictates when you need double valve springs.
Type of cams you're using and intended revs are what dictates the change in the planning stage.
Valve bounce occurs when the spring isn't up to the job - IF i get that too early in the rev range then i'll have to go to doubles and bite the bullet
