The manifold is a dyno spec item - the race spec stuff didn't run all the probes.
My ECU will support 4 EGTs and 2 Wideband lambdas so will need to run a standalone datalogger to interpret them all...
I can only assume they monitored it all to check for balance across the cylinders...

Righto.
Game Over.
After a lot of long hard thought i've decided i've had enough. The project has been going on for 3 years now and after 3 years, over £10,000 and a lot of sleepless nights i'm calling it a day. The shell has been the major hold up for the last 2 years and the situation shows no sign of improving. To be honest, the last 6 months i've not had much heart in it, i made a big push to try and get everything prepped for Central Day, but again, without the shell, it was to no avail. My ST170 will also be going up for sale shortly, hopefully the funds raised from selling my daily driver and all the parts for the Escort will be enough to allow me to purchase one new car that i can enjoy through the summer...
Keep an eye on the For Sale section - most of it will be listed there in the next few days.
Thanks for the interest and support in this - but my heart's not in it any more.

You sure pal? I understand you're pissed off with it, but you seem so close. If its just a shell you need, buy one and get it running as a car and see how you feel then, even if its not the mintest.

Man, this is not good news!
Mine has fucked me off more than words can explain! The costs are silly! Many don't have a clue just how much! Surely you are too far in now tho to call it a day??
This project had all the hallmarks of a fuck good car! Stick at it son! Stick at it!

i have been down this road mate
but
i had a couple of weeks of not even thinking about it the car and now my interest is restored, i have seen some progress and had some other ideas that will work and work well
i think its the new ideas that have me back at it again
could you just not put it on a back burner for a bit, then come back with a fresh attitude
would be such a shame as it looked like it was gonna be awesome

I'll be totally honest - even if i got given a concourse shell tomorrow - i still don't know if i'd want to build it.
I hate to say it, but i don't have the confidence in them anymore. The chassis just isn't really up to it. Even with a cage and rose jointed suspension etc. etc. - i still doubt how well it'd handle round a track.
My trip to the nurburgring last week signed and sealed these thoughts...
My plans now are to keep some of the bits - Turbo, wastegate, boost controller, ECU etc. and sell the RS Turbo specific bits, sell my ST170 daily driver and hopefully raise enough £££ to get a Focus RS.
I'll run it at around 300bhp over the summer and hopefully enjoy driving again - then over winter maybe fit the leftovers and go for 400+bhp...

A passenger blast in the SiTech demo car blew my mind!
Astounding grip at silly speeds with just a cage, set of Konis and some carefully chosen chassis mods....
Projects are a pain in the arse and can be a nightmare to see through, but the off the shelf options just don't do it for me.

straight line grip is very different from handling well.
400bhp FWD RST round a track is not a good combination.
I think your making the right choice will, the internet is a bad thing as scews peoples perspective on what they want and what they actually need.
Best of luck.

Ade,
I'm good friends with Simon and we've spent many hours chatting and swapping hints/tips/advice and i know how much time he's spent developing his car so i can fully appreciate that the handling of his car is good!
If i'm totally honest - there are some other reasons apart from the handling that are leading me away from the Mk4 Escort chassis but the good news is that i've had a lot of interest in the bits for sale so hopefully funds will be raised to see a quick Focus RS on the road in the next few months.
