just spent two hours trying too remove it from one of my wheel
arches using wd40 and rags and its a right pain in the arse,just wondering would a heat gun be any better at removing it as i have the rest of the
under side to do

Try petrol mate, that's what I used on my underside, got all the crap off a treat, be warned it foes get very messy and smelly! lol worth it in the end

 

I used a angle grinder and a drill both with wire brush attachments for mine... hard work, and really messy.. came out well though.

I've been told that the best thing to use is actually to get down to B&Q and buy an electric tile scraper. this will not only get shot of the normal underseal but also the minging rubbery stuff that my car was covered in.

 

ps. don't use thinners or paint stripper as when you paint it, the nitromors or what ever will seep out of any seams and ruin the paintwork!!

as said grinder/rill n wire brush attachments work a treat.

we actually use an air powered device we got ages ago from a neighbour, it was ued down the docks to remove barnicles from ships, so underseal and wat not is a formality!!!

unfortunatily i have no idea wat its meant to be called!!!!

wot u need is 4 huge wire wheels an angle grinder a blow torch a wall paper scraper and a brother who owes u money to do it (lol) it took him probably a week to do it on and off on my s2 and thats the all of the underneath back to bare metal

 

not sure about what to use on your wheels but on the underside of my rs1600i i used an electric chisel scraper



set me back 9.99 from that cheap supermarket Lidl, with 3 yr warranty too, lol
