PROJECT RS TURBO 4 SPEED...............worth a go!
here we go............. i brought a 1.3 escort 2 do sumthin with last month & it just sat on my "unfinished" driveway! i tried selling the car for £90! but had no joy so its now a project car!
i have all rs turbo running gear wiv piper 285 t2 cam & high pressure oil pump fitted, superchip, 3ich mongoose stainless, & a bleedvalve laying about (all the mods u need for 180 bhp).
so ive decided 2 stick all the running gear onto the 1.3 4 speed gearbox & see what it does!
i have a 5 speed for when it goes BANG! but i want 2 see how well the 4 speed copes & how quick of the mark it is. (should be interesting)
MAN I GET BORED SUMTIMES!
heres a few pics or he car & what ive done in the few hrs i spent on it 2day.
THE CAR
TODAYS PICS
ALL THE OLD CRAP
WASHED THE ENINE BAY DOWN QUICKLY
SHAME ABOUT BATTERY TRAY (gonna brush it in silver again thou)
THE NEW ENGINE
the engine was rebuilt a few years ago but havent heard it run yet! FINGERS CROSSED

brought everything 2 complete it & woke up 1 day & just sold it all!
ive built 2 stealth escorts now from 1.3's & i love them!
u carnt beat pully up next 2 a scooby at the lights in ur standard 1.3 escort decked on 14 inch steelies wiv wheel trims & just blowing him away!
the expression on there face is priceless!
sum wouldnt agree wiv me but i think scoobys are over rated!
old ford dont die they just get quicker! (even the shitty 1.3's)

lockesRSparts, looking very good. Wondering if you could help me with a few things as im planning on buying a 1.3 4speed and creating an RST replica for my first car. As you can guess ive got a few questions:
1. On the 1.3 how interchangable are the RST parts with the standard 1.3 parts - are there much differences in the suspension setup? Can i swap on RST disks easily?
2. As concerns the 4speed box i'd prefere the 5 speed - can this be mated to the enginew easily or does it require a fair bit of tooling? An ideas on the final drive ratio on the 4 speed compared to the 5speed - or really what im looking for is the difference in driving experience, considering im still going to have the 1.3 in there.
cheers

all parts will swap straight over mate. (suspension, roll bar etc..)
to fit the rs disks u will need the rs turbo callipers aswell. (then its a straight swap)
any xr3i/rs tubro 5 speed gearbox will mount up to a 1.3 engine & sit on the same mounts. u will need 2 get a 5 speed gearlinkage aswell thou (£10 from the scrappys)
as for my old turbo it was sold & then had a harvey gibbs engine fitted 20psi/200bhp & 90'spec bumpers then was sold on ebay for £2k
