Default ST170 Engine power potential

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and have a question.

im currently in the planning stage of building a replica of the 05 WRC Ford Focus RS.

The project is starting out as a black 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec, but I want to do an engine conversion for the ST170 engine, reason being its really difficult to find an RS engine, not to mention the price of one. As well as looking like the real thing, I want it to perform somewhat similar too, so whats the absolute max you could squeeze out of an ST170 engine?

cheers.

I was thinking of fitting a turbo at a later date, since its such an expensive thing to do and i don't earn all that much. But I suppose fir the time being id keep it N/A and focus on minor tuning and the exterior look.

to get an idea of the price of the body kit have a look on pumaspeed's web site, best part of 2 grand complete ( plus fitting )

any tuning to the st170 will require a good aftermarket ecu and either itb's or a turbo, probably another couple of thousand

think it might be better starting with a st170 instead of converting yours either way it's more expense, forget pockets you need a big pot

If you would like to visit, look at my cars and throw some ideas around you are very welcome to do so

You need to decide turbo or n/a then? both can get expensive in different ways

i priced up an engine rebuild for a friend including focus rs pistons and rods and piper valve springs, completely reconditioned for about £2500, that was for the engine alone without ecu, turbo, manifolds etc
