The position is the same as a 2wd manifold would of thought a hanger would be required

Fitted a new head unit removed the factory clock and fitted the Stack Volt gauge in its place. Also poistioned the knock link where its visible when driving with out having to take your eyes off the road.

What are your thoughts on the gearbox, is it much noisier than standard?

When I took my pug for MOT I was amazed how noisy the front diff and box was for a standard skyline box, the front diff is qualife so it could be that as when I hit 2wd if seems to go in to rolls Royce mode.

The new box is a little more noisier than the previuos box inside the car due to the solid alloy bushes, lever and gear knob which transmits some amount of nosie inside the car.

Standard Skyline box should not be noisy cant say on the front diff if its got a Qualife fitted.

Good to hear. I am torn between close ratios in mine as I love the 2wd option but the simplicity of the oppliger attracts me as it was designed to fit and work.

It is odd that in 2wd it is quieter as the front diff is still turning, albeit with no torque load. It isn't a nasty noise

Just remember a skyline has loads of sound deadning material unlike the pug we fitted a bmw 1 series box in a 50's merc which sounded noisey.

True but my pug has full dynamat, I stripped the shell bare and covered it from floor to roof, then added a fluff sound deadening on top and the a decoupling layer, I would have thought that it was over what an r33 would have had?

Out of interest how much did you pay for her if you don't mind me asking?

How come it doesn't have a red/blue/green top? (im a ford noob so please be easy on me)

Also if it doesnt have leather/electric sunroof that means its not a lux right?

Thing with the return to std it's fake though half these have been hammerd at over std horse power and those that know about these cars know this these cars are fetching the money right now because the people that were young when these were heyday cars are now in thier 40's 50's and have money to spend 10-20 years time the next generation won't even know what a cosy is and the only ones that will fetch money will be the REAL low mile std cars and it will be collectors and thier not fooled mate

I may of misread what you originally wrote, i thought you said that STD is shite, not returning to standard.

Mines a REAL low mile standard Was in Guernsey from brand new until 2012, and been sat up until last month. As far as im aware your lucky to get to 70mph anywhere on Guernsey lol

You sound a bit hostile for no apparent reason?

I don't really know much about these which is why im on here getting opinions and giving my opinion.

You said the only ones that will fetch money and real low miles so thats why i said mine is, hence why I said before about keeping it standard.

Jeez its a Saturday mate smile

Modified cars is my thing! I own a bodyshop and work closely with Tim at the Phirm so would be hard not to.

I think everyone's reading what they want to read from what I'm writing, not what I actually mean lol.

Of course there will be a market for modified cosworths, but if you take a mk1 escort, a porsche 964, or an etype jag just to name a few that are flying upwards right now, standard ones are easily 30% more and have cost overall 50% less 😄

I hope you can see what I mean now and not thinking I'm shooting down modifying of cars, it's what I do day in day out.

Kieran

Did Mark or Bara / Oppliger advise what spec of oil to use in the Oppliger as I am trying to assemble everything ready to go when the box arrives.

Best to call Mark to see what oil he used cant remember what oil was used now but was different from the normal stuff that is used in other gearboxes.

Theres different oils to use depending on what your useing the car for. Mines purely road use and is great with what ive got in my box.

Ok, thanks. will do.

Mine is road use too. I will also see if Bara has some thoughts. I will need to speak to Mark Shead as he has my Vipec Ecu at the moment as he is linking it withe the Toucan tft display.

Yes, they speak to most ecu and can even switch the anti lag and launch from the screen and have datalog tell tales on all the max parameters. That with the stack dash you end up with an uncluttered dash

Mark has got the Toucan screen communicating with the vipec so very happy now.

I am getting excited about my oppliger, I ordered the short shift gear stick today like yours.

I wanted to ask you, what sort of revs does yours drop between gears, I am assuming it is a long 1st gear and then something like 750 rpm or 1000 rpm drop between each gear? Are you on standard ratio diff and wheel sizes? I am assuming 18s but with low profiles to be close to standard? Mine is only on 45 profile 16 inch rubber plus I have the low 3.9 diffs so I am expecting it to be very low geared and very close ratio....oppliger originally though 150 top speed which is quite a drop from about 185 total gearing (assuming enough grunt to get it there)

What sort of miles per hour do you get per 1000 rpm in 5th? I.e. What speed is it doing at 3000 rpm?

Sorry for all the questions but your car is the closest to mine in terms of power and rough spec.

Thats good news the display is working

Not given it any in 1st just use it to get me rolling not check to see what revs drop to between gears as to busy concentrating on the road. Mark will be the best guy to ask as he will have logs from mapping.

Standard Rear diff with 7" rear axel 3.9 crown wheel & pinion.

Wheel are 18s with 240/40/18 tyres

At 3k rpm im doing 60 mph in 5th gear. As for top end clocks only read 140 mph with the bigger wheels it should be doing around 160/165 mph. It gets there quick enough.
