My taunus I’m converting to rhd with the st170 engine and ur custom loom fitted!!

A mk3, 2 dr cortina pre facelift I’ve acquired for some parts to get my project on the move!!

Default Relays again lol!

How do I wire up the engine run relay? Where do wires come from and too?

also power control relay?

on the plus side, I have managed to wire the start inhibit relay, and also the high speed fan!

ive also powered up the ecu, and the pats Immobilizer seems to be doing wat it should!, also powers up the fuel pump loom( I’ve wired an orange light in place for test purpose)

excuse the messy wires, I will tidy it up onece I know it’s fault free and working 100%

ive also cut the standard fuse/relay box down in size!

will try to upload a pic and vid but it’s not letting me at the min

It’s been a while, is there a separate power / engine controls relays ?

its just a relay that saves the ignition switch from a hard time.

i have got 12v on a skinny 1mm2 cable to my ignition switch. Same from the run position to energise a 70a relay and the same from the start position to the start inhibit relay.

my poor old Sierra ignition switch now only flows a few mA

I then have a heavy gauge wire from the master relay to a busbar setup.

The ecu just switches the earths the relay.

Default I broke something

On the imrc, am I right by putting the pins from ecu red/white & black/white to imrc!, then there’s a black/blue presumably earth then the green/white is switched live, I done this and the wire got hot so I disconnected it, pats still working but fuel pump driver isn’t 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️, help big wasa 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️😥

So got another fuse box from my yard, ive unpinned all relays and fuses, and re pinned them all in my modied shortened fuse box, powered up in the shed and it all seems to be working as planned, although I can’t test the imrc unit, also how does the power control relay work, does the wire that comes out of ecu act as earth?, where is the live feed or wat does it feed?, regards Tony,
cant wait to test it on my engine to be honest, hope fully all good

Ecu “nearly” always switches the earth.

so supply the relay with a cable of at least 2.5mm2 a link from this pin to energise the relay. The ecu will switch it on and supply all the switched lives for the engine.

if you used a 25a switch you could bin the relay of.

I just use a master relay as my Sierra ignition switch is 30 years old and not designed to carry the current.

If you have the fan switch in the rad or top hose you can bin that off.

If your not fussed about immobilising the starter motor you can bin that one off as well.

Default Fuses and relays

Hi big wasa, I hope your still around, I’ve done my full loom but I’m just struggling with some power feed fuses and relays. I’ve left all the sensors connected like they were from factory and chopped out what I don’t need. I’ve just got this list I need some help with for fuses if possible please?
red perm live for ecu
imrc live
coil plug live
fuel pump live
pats transponder live 7.5a fuse?
1 large cable that powers both switched lives for ecu
obd plug live
pats led live.

I was planning to run a 40a relay before the fuse board and then run wires from the relay live out feed to the board and fuse the rest of the connections. Any help on this would be really appreciated as this is the last part I need any help with Before I test the ecu on the engine. Kind regards David.
