wow yeah thats pretty amazing how it could happen so closely to each other.

anyway 4x4 engine and gearbox are now in, just waiting on some good front shafts which i have in hand and then going to paint them and bolt them in car and get the wheels back on!

then rear in the air and start swapping them bits over!

loads of the original under bonnet bits for sale now as im going with a lot more standard look. and the smaller bailey/AS breather for the rear of the engine.

You took the new owner part and I sent the rest off that day. We had the exact same thing happen to my last Escort Cosworth and did not know anything until a fine dropped through the door for Ł90!! Bloody DVLA take the piss.

Keep me posted on what you find

I hate the big breathers that take the airbox out on not very powerful cars etc.

i am not going 500hp with this so i am going to sell the big bailey breather which didnt seem to be fitted properly anyway and go for one of them little black autospecialist ones.

does anyone have any advice on the fitment? i will get the kit but reading up on them one pipe goes to left side of block and one pipe goes to the kidney box area rather than the cam cover as i dont really want it going to cam cover. (do you get rid of kidney box?)

Only problem is this return to sump bit, i didnt think the smaller kits needed that? i dont see me ever going more than 400hp so whats the point in big kit, i just want a breather that does the job so that i can keep airbox.

So,

On strip down of fuel rail I have noticed that there are no seals on bottom of injectors!!!!

So ordered some new ones of them and at the same time I've ordered some new fuel clamps as the pipes are just pushed on and some braided fuel pipe to sort that side of things.

I won the mint standard air box on eBay so that's that job sorted and now it's to fit my replacement driveshafts.

Breather is next up as the big bailey one is now for sale, I'm going to buy he small a/a one and just go into the cam cover I think as no one can give me a straight answer.

I don't want to weld a boss into sump so I thought I could go one pipe into below turbo, one pipe into where flame trap bit goes once removed and one pipe into where the flame trap pope work goes Into sump? Then the last pipe to atmosphere.

If that's not true then it's cam cover time.

I will update with some pictures tonight hopefully as it should have 4 wheels by then.

Still need 4x4 starter and prop doughnut though.

not happy with loom not having lambda and would need to chop it up for grp a coil etc so luckily a braided one with all the bits i need came up on the escos site.

Bought that and have just ordered brand new starter motor so we are getting somewhere.

Last bit needed is Prop Doughnut and we are rocking.

Thanks guys!

So the 4x4 front is all back in the car.

Checklist is re attach and bleed brakes, fit prop doughnut which is soon to be bought.

Put in new starter!

And now retape all the loom due to me stripping it off and hacking out the old unneeded bits as my braided loom arrives Tuesday.

Just got back from picking up my full leather interior from a really nice guy on the escos forum, it's in fantastic condition so it's out with the old, shampoo the carpet to get the sick green smell out and put in the full leather!

Can't wait.

Here's some pics from yesterday and the loom cutting, scary but I think I cut out what I needed too! Loads less wires now!

Bay nearly bare enough.

I have also bought all the bits to paint the sides of the bay so that's why it's properly stripped in there. To be fair not a lot is going back in anyway.

Going to paint strut brace ash black too.

Am hoping to do interior tonight so I'll have some more pics, I'm also removing headlining and copying James as I really like what he has done

I would hope for both mate but the problem is it's on L6 so I need a proper ECU too, then remap!

So it's all a bit of a joke really but at least im making my own mark on it which I always like to do.

And can make some money back with the old bits.

Here's some pics of the leather

I'll just be so happy when it can come off the axle stands and I can start on bay properly on the floor.

Standard air box still not turned up yet which is slightly worrying haha.

Removed my roof lining as said and as you can see its pretty knackered!

So i had a ring around and getting quotes of Ł250 to do it so sod that. Ive bought some proper foam backed headlining and spray glue and im going to do it myself in black.

I have a couple of problems which is deciding wether to paint plastics (i dont think im going to) and wether to paint the fabric in sunroof hole or actually remove it and try and retrim that too.

or of course leave it grey but i think that would look a bit poo!

anyway only a small update!

You can dye the hard plastic, I did it to the grab handles etc when I retrimmed an old focus headlining black a few years ago, it worked pretty well.

interior is really clean!

most of it is in the car too.

Thanks guys regarding the plastics, I dont really know what to do, I can get all the roof plastics flocked but the problem i have is removing the sunroof slider, i think whole cassette needs to come down to get it out.

anyway moved on with the bay today and got the brake lines done, which was a mare because they had been bodged before but went out and got some banjos so now they are all fixed to the struts and not a cable tie in sight!

then i painted the bay

before

it doesnt look that bad in the pics but there were scratches and surface rust everywhere.

after!
Name: null_zps6f50ca48.jpg
Views: 49
Size: 120.6 KB

all painted and matt lacquered.

loom taped back up after the cutting and proper rocker cover back on, Bay is so much tidier already and all the goodies haven't arrived yet.

Also got rid of A/C pipes in a far better place so they are not just sticking through bulkhead anymore.

Ah wicked... Thats getting chopped out then!

yeah i was going to go alacantra but the genuine stuff just seemed so dear and 2 places wanted 225 to fit with me supplying the fabric which is just ridiculous.

what i bought is just black foam backed stuff, I like the way its really easy to do so if i can do it maybe ill do alcantara next time, I just didnt want to ruin such expensive fabric doing it myself.

The car loom is fine, I have just cut out all the shit wiring.

Now its just the braided loom which is about 4 wires apparently but i Have no idea what ones lol.

the car wont be in a state to start due to pipes etc and no oil, theres a couple of broken ends if you have a soldering iron....

i have some heat shrink.
